GASTONIA - Johnnie Marshall Gaddis Sr., 94, died Oct. 28, 2002, at his home. He was a native of Cherokee County, son of the late Francis Marion and Laura Ann Arp Gaddis. FUNERAL: 11 a.m. Thursday, Founders Chapel, McLean Funeral Directors, Gastonia. INTERMENT: Private service at Sandy Plains Baptist Church Cemetery. VISITATION: 6:30 to 8:30 tonight at the funeral home. He was retired from Gastonia Weave Mill, a member of Grace Baptist Church and a member of the Golden Chorus for more than 20 years. He was a former member of Love Memorial Baptist Church. SURVIVORS: Wife of 72 years, Pearl Chastain Gaddis; sons and daughters-in-law, Melvin and Sylvia Gaddis of Gastonia, Marshall and Linda Gaddis of Mount Holly; daughters and sons-in-law, Jean Gaddis and Charles Pendergrass of Gastonia, Phyllis Gaddis and Ray Barnes of Gastonia, Patricia Gaddis and Frank Falls of Gastonia, Nell Chastain Putnam of Gastonia; one brother, Lester Gaddis of Belmont; two sisters, Ollie Harwell of Gastonia, Ellen McDonald of Charlotte; 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; friend and caregiver, Macie Crawford of Gastonia.
