Elma E. Traeger Longley Lentine, a native of Porterville, died there Tuesday, February 20, 2007. She was 93. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Myers Chapel in Porterville. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, February 26, 2007 at Home of Peace Cemetery in Porterville followed by a reception at the First Congregational Church. Mrs. Lentine was born on December 4, 1913, the second child of one of Porterville's oldest pioneer families, William Edward and Grace Wilcox Traeger. She graduated from Porterville Union High School in 1931, attended Taft Jr. College and Central California Commercial College in Fresno. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper for J & J Pharmacy and enjoyed playing golf. Her greatest joy, however, was her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Nicholas Lentine of Terra Bella; one daughter, Kathleen George of Porterville; one son, Kenton Longley and his wife Christel of Seattle; one sister, Edra Hayes of Porterville; three granddaughters, Julie George BeDell and her husband Drew of Carlsbad, Kirsi and Erika Longley both of Seattle; one grandson, Brian George and his wife Sherri of San Clemete; and two great-grandsons, Joshua and Luke BeDell. Her parents; three sisters, June Swinden, Merle Crook and Alberta Sheeter; one brother, Wesley Traeger; and her first husband Leonard Longley preceded her in death. Memorial contributions may be sent to Porterville Adult Day Services, 227 E. Oak or First Congregational Church, 165 E. Mill, Porterville.
