Edgar C. Ruppert, 90, died at 7:20 p.m. Monday, May 30, 2005, in Greens at Creekside, Kansas City, Mo. He was born June 18, 1914, in Barry County Missouri, near Wheaton, to Otto Ruppert and Clara Longley. He was a longtime Carthage resident. He worked as a bookkeeper for Morrow Lumber Co. for several years and retired from there in 1976. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Carthage and was a navy veteran of World War II, serving two terms from 1934-1938 and 1942-1945. He married Eva Marie Ruppert on Jan. 28, 1940 in Neosho, Mo. She preceded him in death on Oct. 9, 1997. He is survived by a son, Richard Ruppert of Grandview, Mo.; a daughter, Sara Stone of Fairfax, Mo.; a sister, Sarah Dayringer of Bolivar, Mo.; three granddaughters, Angela Church, Cindy Marriott and Katherine Stone; a grandson, Dan Stone; two great-granddaughters, Meghan Church and Julia Marriott and a great-grandson, Trevor Church. He was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Mance "Duke" Ruppert. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 3, at Park Cemetery, Carthage. The Rev. Richard Dayringer will officiate. Burial will follow in Park Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, June 3, at Ulmer Funeral Home, Carthage. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church care of the funeral home.
