Ira Lionel Swan, 85, Hugoton, Kan., died March 25, 1999, at Stevens County Hospital, Hugoton. He was born Feb. 22, 1914, in Stevens County, Kan., a son of Roy M. and Leona M. Kerns Swan. He was married Aug. 24, 1946, in Clayton, N.M., to Bethel Elizabeth Dwyer, who survives at the home. A lifelong resident of Hugoton, he was employed by Mobil Oil until his retirement. He was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of First Christian Church, Hugoton, and the VFW. Other survivors include: one son, Ronald E. Swan, Knowles, Okla.; two daughters, Marilyn J. Holcomb, Hugoton, and Leona M. Sullivan, Jefferson City; three sisters, Maxine Dewey, Borger, Texas, Loree Folger, Amarillo, Texas, and Luvada Coulter, Pharr, Texas; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Christian Church, Hugoton. Max Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Hugoton Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Pioneer Manor Special Care Unit, Hugoton. Arrangements are under the direction of Paul's Funeral Home, Hugoton.
