Father: Francis Waklin Baldwin
Mother: Mary Elizabeth Reynolds
Notes:
Miss China V. Baldwin, the daughter of Francis W. and Mary E. Baldwin
was born Dec 3, 1859 near Springfield, Illinois, moving to Kansas
with her parents when 5 years of age. In 1873 she confessed Christ,
during a meeting conducted by Bro. Harvey. She and her mother were
baptized the same day. She and George Dwyer were united in marriage,
May 13, 1877. To this union 8 children were born as follows: W.F.
Dwyer who died when 4 months old; O.W. Dwyer of Kansas City, Kansas;
J.C. and M.G. Dwyer of Hugoton, Kansas; W.J. Dwyer of Burden, Kansas;
A.J. and E.O. Dwyer of Cambridge, Kansas, and Mrs. C.L. Jackson, who
died Nov. 21, 1905. Mrs. Dwyer lived near and in Cambridge for 58
years. Departing from this life May 8, 1935, at the age of 75 years,
5 months, and 5 days. Leaving to mourn for her departure, G. H.
Dwyer, 6 sons, 18 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, many neices
and nephews, also other relatives and friends. A sample of her life
is shown by thoughts expressed in her own writing as follows:
"Blessed Bible, how I love it, How it doth my bosom cheer. What hath
earth like this to covet? Oh, what stores of wealth are here? Man
was lost and doomed to sorrow. Not one ray of hope or bliss could
be from earth's treasure borrow. Till his way was cheered by this.
Yes, sweet Bible, I will hide thee - hide thee richly in this heart.
Thou through all my life wilt guide me, and in death we will not
part. Part in Death - no never. Never through death's vale. I'll
lean on Thee, then in worlds above forever. Sweeter still Thy truths
shall be." The above is evidently written to her family, because
it was signed, "Mother"
More of her lovely thoughts expressed as follows:
"There is no death, 'tis but a restful closing of eyes, grown weary
of the scenes of earth. A blissful waking and a sweet reposing of
hearts. I yearn for love where is no death, 'tis but a little
journey over the river, the Crystal river, where no storms assail.
'Tis trusting Him the Mighty, to deliver, where love and might and
power can never fail." - "Mother"
"No death, Ah no, 'tis life eternal, 'tis love and joy forever,
trusting soul. 'Tis peace and rest and beauty bright where nothing
shall annoy while ages roll. No death! Ah, no. With some unknown
Angel we go away." - "Mother"
"Oh, glorius hour, Oh, blessed abode. I shal be near and like my
God, and flesh and sin no more control the sacred pleasure of the
soul."
The above thoughts were found written on tablet paper found in her
Bible.
