Services will be held at 1 p.m. today at the Uhrich Funeral Home in Uhrichsville for Frank Forker, 71, native of Dresden, who died Wednesday at Crile Veterans Hospital following a two-week illness. The Rev. Henry Hansen will officiate and burial will be in Union Cemetery, Uhrichsville. Mr. Forker, a resident of Uhrichsville for the past 50 years, was born June 23, 1889, in Dresden, the son of Euphrates and Mary Watts Forker. His wife, the former Nellie Gossett, died in 1959. He was a member of Defiance Lodge 195, F&AM; Emir Grotto 39; Scottish Rite, Valley of Steubinville; Waterford Post 230, American Legion and was a veteran of World War I. Surviving are three brothers, William of 254 Pine street, James of 830 Princeton avenue and Jess of the Frame Rest Home and two sisters, Mrs. Sally Crozier of Dresden and Mrs. Ferne Bowden of El Segundo, Calif

KNOWLES, Henry Edgar, Jr., (Bud), 68, of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, August 6, 2000. He was a veteran of the Korean War, a graduate of Virginia Tech, a lifetime member of Fort Lewis Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of Locust Grove United Methodist Church. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Henry E., III, (Ed), and Carolyn Knowles of Huddleston; a daughter, Myra Jane Knowles of Christiansburg; grandsons, Sgt. Jason Knowles, USMC, North Carolina, and Joshua Knowles of Huddleston; and his ex-wife, Lois Knowles of Christiansburg. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, August 11, at Locust Grove United Methodist Church in Salem. We hope all of his friends will be able to join us. Mrs. Lora F. Akers, 71, of 1024 Cranford, died at Weld County General hospital Wednesday morning. She had been in poor health for the past six months. Mrs. Akers was born Aug. 13, 1888, at Tennessee, Ill. Edward W. Akers and the former Lora F. Boyd, were married in Macomb, Ill., on Dec, 25, 1907. They moved to Winfield, Kan., in 1908 and from there to Briggsdale in April, 1918. They homesteaded near Briggsdale until 1920 when Akers started work at the Greeley post office. He remained in the postal service for 31 years until his retirement in August, 1951. The Akerses have lived in their home on Cranford since 1928. Mrs. Akers was a member of the First Christian church and Circle 5 of the Christian's Women's Fellowship. Besides her husband, Mrs. Akers is survived by four children, Harold V. and Herman E. Akers, both of Greeley, Dr. Howard J. Akers of Salem, Ore., and Mrs. Robert L. Dawson of Tucson, Ariz.; also six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning from Macys drawing room with interment at Linn Grove cemetery.
