Callie J. Parnell, a homemaker, died Jan. 10, 2006, at White River
Medical Center in Batesville at the age of 91. She was born Aug.
26, 1914, in Oregon County, Mo., the daughter of the late George
Washington and Sarah Ann Longley Denton. She was united in marriage
in 1931 to Jack Allen who preceded her in death. She was united
in marriage June 12, 1941, in Oregon County, Mo., to Henry Rudolph
Parnell who preceded her in death Jan. 26, 1976. Survivors include
one son, Ronald Parnell of Mammoth Spring; two daughters, Mary Sue
Murphy and husband, Ron, of Ironton, Mo., and Patsy Ann Baldridge and
husband, Omer Lee, of Mammoth Spring; seven grandchildren, Barbara
Gann, Pam McLaurin, Rhonda Foley, Jackie Ware, Rick Allen, Marcus
Allen, and Adam Allen; six great-grandchildren, Melissa Jordan,
Callie, Tressa, Stephanie and Jimmy; eight great-great-grandchildren;
and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her
parents; her husbands; three sons, Loyd Wayne Allen, Jackie Allen and
Donald Joe Allen; three brothers, Isaac "Ike," Milo and John Denton;
and two sisters, Florence McHugh Dodge and Jenny Owens. The funeral
service was held at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer on Jan.
12 with Bro. Floyd Rikard officiating. Burial followed in the Pleasant
Ridge Cemetery in Mammoth Spring with arrangements under the direction
of Carter Funeral Home Inc. of Thayer. Pallbearers were Cord
McLaurin, Will Rogers, Jordan McLaurin, David Manes, Jim Denton and
Mark Parnell.

Miss Velma Longley to be Married Next Sunday and Central-Trinity
Miss Velma Longley, daughter of Mrs Hugh Longley of Woodlawn avenue,
and the late Mr. Longley, will become the bride of Paul Maddox, next
Sunday afternoon, January 12, at 2:30 o'clock in Central-Trinity
Methodist parsonage. Rev. John W. Lacey will officiate at the
ceremony, and attendants will be the bride-elect's twin sister, Miss
Thelma Longley and Charles moody. A reception will follow the
wedding. The bride-elect is a graduate of Lash hish school and is
employed by the Ohio Bell Telephone company. She is a member of
Central-Trinity chirch. Her fiance is a graduate of Lash hish
school and Meredith Business college and is employed at the First
National bank. He is a member of the First Methodist church.
Announcement of the engagement and approaching wedding was made at
an evening party given by the bride-elect's twin sister, Friday
evening, in the Longley home. Guests at the affair were members on
the Debonaire club and other close friends of the bride-elect.
Decorations were in pink and white, and the wedding planes were
revealed when luncheon was served. The plans were announce on tiny
pink and white scrolls. Luncheon was served at small tables and the
appoinments were pink and white. The tables were lighted with
candles.

White Satin worn by Miss Longley at her Wedding to Paul Maddox.
Before the alter of the Central-Trinity church which had been banked
with a huge basket of white flowers and lighte by the glow of seven
branch candelabra Miss Velma Longley and Paul Maddox were united in
marriage Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Rev. John W. Lacy read
the single ring ceremony. Miss Longley wore a long white satin gown
for her wedding which was fashioned with princess lines and had leg
of mutton sleeves and a sweetheart neckline. At the cuff and neck
dainty beads were used as trimming. Her veil fell in graceful folds
to the waistline. Her bouquet which was of white gardenias was tied
with a huge white satin bow. The bride was preceded to the alter by
her twin sister, Miss Thelma Longley and another sister, Mrs. Eugene
Maneely and Miss Virginia Joseph. Charles Moddy was the best man.
The maid of honor wore a blue chiffon frock also of princess style
with a beaded neckline. It had long full sleeves and here bouquet
was of Japanese lillies and in her hair was worn a tiny hat fashioned
of lilies and tied with blue streamers. Mrs. Maneely also wor a blue
gown, and it was trimmed in deep purple. It was styled with a full
skirt and short puffed sleeves. Her flowers were of red roses which
blended with the trimming on the dress and were tied with a shower of
white ribbons. She also wore a tiny hat fashioned like that of the
maid of honor and her streamers were pink. Miss Joseph wore a peach
frock with a short jacket and puffed sleeves also trimmed with beads.
She had yellow roses tied with a shower of white ribbons. She too
wore a tiny cap fashioned like that of the other bridesmaids. Miss
Evelyn Scott played a brief program of music preceding the ceremony
and Bess Echelberry was the vocalist. A receptions supplemented the
ceremony and was held in the home of the bride's mother, Mrs. Hugh
Longley of Woodlawn avenue. Aides for the reecption were Miss Myrtle
Maddox, Miss Marie McCance, Mrs Albert Johnson, Mrs Ernest
Fenstermaker, Mrs Eugene Maneely, sister of the bride and here
sisters-in-law Mrs Edmund Longley and Mrs Hugh Longley. The bride's
mother received her guests in a brown dress and her flowers were of
pink roses. Mrs. Maddox, mother of the groom, wore a black gown with
a red rose corsage. The decorations in the living room were of white
gladiolias and on the bridal table where a wedding cake had been
placed the bridesmaid put their flowers which formed a lovely
centerpiece. After the reception, the bride donned a dusty rose
frock and had faced with the same color, for the wedding trip.
Out-of-town guests at the wedding and reception were Mr. and Mrs A L
Maddox of Cincinnati, Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Koots of Florida, Mr. and
Mrs. T.W.Cann of Columbus, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Cann, Columbus: Mr and
Mrs Earl Nelson, Columbus; Miss Myrtle Hesse, Indiana, Pa.; Mr and
Mrs H V Maddox, Roseville; Mr and Mrs Stewart Cann, Roseville; Mr and
Mrs George Gill, Flint, Mich., and Mr and Mrs R J Burns, Huntington
W.Va. A supper was given at the Longley home Saturday evening,
following the rehearsal for the wedding. Covers were laid for 12
guests, and the table was cenetered with pink and white flowers.
The bride-elect is a graduate of Lash high school, and is employed
by the Ohio Bell Telephone company. She is a member of Central-
Trinity church. Her fiance is a graduate of Lash high school, and
Meredith Business college, and is employed at the First National
bank. He is a member of First Methodist church.

DEATH SUMMONS RITA JEAN SAVAGE
Rita Jean Savage, fourteen month-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard
B. Savage of 776 Homewood avenue, died at 5:20 o'clock Thursday
afternoon in Good Samaritan hospital following a short illness of
complications. The child was born in Zanesville Oct 15, 1944.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Friday afternoon in
the Fair Oaks Baptist church with Rev. Charles A. Weed officiating.
The body will be removed to the residence later this afternoon from
the Mader-Peoples funeral home.
