He was active in many community affairs (Mason, Shriner, Lions Club, United Way, Wesley Foundation Board, St Andrew's Methodist Church board) even serving as president in many of the organizations. He served his country in WWII (US Naval Air Corps) and taught Civil Engineering at Texas A&M, College Station.
