MORGAN COUNTY MAN SUICIDE VICTIM SATURDAY NIGHT
Amos Henry "Buddy" Gheen, 52, well known resident of Malta, Morgan county, committed suicide some time Saturday night, by drowning, and the body was found in the Muskingum river at 7 o'clock Sunday morning by friends who were searching for him. Gheen, who was formerly a section hand employed on the O&LK railroad, was assaulted about one year ago and since that time had been mentally unbalanced. It is said he had threatened to take his life a number of times. Saturday evening his family attended a motion picture show and when they returned they found Gheen missing. A search was instituted and the body was found in the Muskingum river, near the home, Sunday morning. The funeral will be conducted at the Main Street Church of Christ at 1:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon and burial will be made in the McConnelsville cemetery. Mr. Gheen was well known in Morgan county and is survived by his wife, two sisters; Mrs. Lee Mell and Mrs. Harley Leggett, and the following children; Edward Gheen, McConnelsville, Howard, Helen, Harry and Katherine Gheen, at home.

Ola Margaret Deacon Stone, 88, of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2007. She was the widow of Ernest Lee Stone, Jr. and predeceased by her parents, Homer and Lottie Deacon; and sisters, Deta Hylton, Edith Hale and Helen Benois. Mrs. Stone was a graduate of Jefferson High School. She retired from Shepherds Auto Supply, Inc. with 44 years of service. In addition to her work, Ola loved gardening and spending time with her family at the lake. Surviving are her nieces, Pamela Kimberlin, Lawanda Ely, Diane Thorn, Margaret Jones and Marlene Kobert; nephews, Benny Benois, Bill Hale and Michael Hale; and other extended family members; her sister-in-law and brotherin-law, her caregivers, Betty and Thomas Minyard; step daughter, Lana McCulloch; step granddaughter, Michaela; and stepgreat-grandaughter, Logan. Special appreciation is extended by her family to the care giving staff of One South, Friendship Retirement Community and Good Samaritan Hospice. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 21, 2007 in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. Chaplain Marvin Barbre will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at Oakeys North Chapel, 540-362-1237.
