Imogene Knowles Semones, 85, of Greenville, S.C. and formerly of
Pulaski, Va., died Monday night, January 23, 2006 in the National
Healthcare of Mauldin, S.C., where she was a resident for six years.
She was born in Floyd County, Va. on July 12, 1920 and was the
daughter of the late Samuel J. Knowles and Vennie Keith Knowles. She
was also preceded in death by her husband, Burley Edward Semones; one
granddaughter, Annette Moore; and one great-grandson, Dylan Vaughan.
She was a long-standing member of the Aldersgate United Methodist
Church, Pulaski. Surviving are three daughters and son-in-law,
Marguerite and Gene Rupe, Simpsonville, S.C., Marie Hughes,
Milledgeville, Va., Burley Jean Moore, Richmond; three sons and
daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Linda Semones, Clearwater, Fla., James
Semones, Pulaski, Larry Semones, Winston-Salem, N.C.; 12
grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be
held Friday at 10 a.m. from Stevens Funeral Chapel with the Rev.
John Grimm officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Memory
Gardens, Dublin, Va. Visiting will be Thursday evening from the
funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorials be made to the
American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 554, Roanoke, Va. 24013 or the
American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 1833, Merrifield, Va. 22116.

Cecil Charles Knowles, 76, of Bedford and formerly of Roanoke,
passed away Saturday, February 12, 2005 in Bedford, Va. Born
January 18, 1929 in Roanoke, he was the son of the late Walter
Earnest and Josephine Sink Knowles. Mr. Knowles was retired from
the U.S. Army National Guard with the rank of Major with over twenty
five years of service. He also retired as the county administrator
of Bedford County. He was a member of Preston Oaks Baptist Church
in Roanoke. He is survived by his wife, Marian Dixon Knowles of 57
years; two daughters, Dixie K. Miller and Vicki Lynn Smith, both of
Roanoke; one sister, Nancy K. Watson and her husband, Melvyn of
Daleville; one brother, Marvin L. Knowles and his wife, Chrsta of
Petersburg; two grandchildren, James L. McCallum and Robert Lee
Smith and his wife Paula, all of Roanoke; five great-grandchildren,
Collin McCallum and Connor McCallum of Seminole, Fla., Austin Smith,
Cameron Smith and Rachel Smith, all of Roanoke; three nephews, Robert
Knowles of Springfield, Va., Richard Knowles of Raleigh, N.C. and
David Watson of Philadelphia, Pa.; and a host of aunts, uncles, and
cousins. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Tharp
Funeral Home, Bedford Chapel and a graveside service with military
honors will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Sherwood Cemetery,
Salem, Va. with the Rev. Brian A. Clingenpeel officiating. The family
will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m.
and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to The National
D-Day Memorial Foundation, P.O. Box 77, Bedford, Va. 24523. Tharp

PRATT - Eugene "Gene" N. Kramer, 71, died June 17 at Pratt Regional
Medical Center. He was born July 18, 1931, at Great Bend, the son of
Karl and Elsie Langer Kramer. He married Norma G. Sipe Nov. 5, 1950,
at Pratt. A longtime Pratt resident, he was a retired electrician
and owner-operator of Kramer Electric. Kramer was a member of First
United Methodist Church and Elks Lodge, both of Pratt, and Pratt
County Men's Golf Association at Green Valley Golf Course, and was a
retired volunteer with the Pratt City Fire Department and served as
assistant fire chief. He was a U.S. Marine veteran. Survivors include
his wife of the home; one son, David Kramer of Pratt; one daughter,
Judy Starrett of Kodiak, Alaska; one brother, Rex Kramer of Aurora,
Colo.; and nine grandchildren. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at
the church with the Revs. Kendal Utt and Fred Pinkerton officiating.
Burial with graveside military honors will be at Greenlawn Cemetery
in Pratt. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and from
9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, all at Larrison Mortuary in Pratt.
Memorials are suggested to Pratt City Fire Department Memorial or
donor's choice, both in care of the mortuary.
