ZANESVILLE -- Shirley A. Grear Ball, 59, of Zanesville, died at 8
p.m. Saturday, July 24, 2004, at the James Cancer Center, Ohio State
University Hospital, Columbus, after a four-year battle with cancer.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, July 27, at
Hillis & Hardwick Funeral Home, 935 Forest Ave. Mass of Christian
Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at
St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with Father Thomas V. DiFedeas as
celebrant. Burial will be in Williams Cemetery, Zanesville. Memorial
contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Send a

Shirley A. Ball
Shirley A. (Grear) Ball, 59 ,of Zanesville died at 8:00 PM, on Saturday,
July 24, 2004 at James Cancer Center Of Ohio State Univ. in Columbus
following a four year battle with cancer. She was born on Monday,
April 2, 1945, in Zanesville, OH the daughter of the late John
Thomas Grear and Mildred L. (Roberts) Grear of Zanesville. She
attended St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and was a hair stylist
for over 30 years having retired from The Hair Salon at Elder
Beerman. She enjoyed the beach of the Outer Banks and flower
gardening. In addition to her mother she is survived by her husband
Charles E. Ball who she married on Saturday January 26, 1985, four
children Lisa G. (Jason) Chapman of Crooksville, Robert T. (Kathy)
Miracle of Zanesville, James S. (Debbie) Miracle of Zanesville and
Amy Jo (Bryan) Little of Nashport; Three Step-children Troy (Tomi)
Ball of Zanesville, Kellie (Chris) Sparks of Crooksville and Chad
(Amanda) Trussell of New Concord; 17 Grandchildren who she was deeply
devoted to, Gage, Tori, Brandon, Faith, Kennedy and Rachel Chapman;
Kinzie Jo, Josie, Bodee, Keirston, Trevor and Johnathon Miracle;
Laiken Little; Nigel and Kaylie Ball; Christopher and Caton Sparks.
One brother Larry D. (Debbie) Grear of Zanesville. Friends may call
Tuesday July 27, 2004 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Hillis and Hardwick
Funeral Home, 935 Forest Ave. Memorial Contributions can be made to

was preceded in death by her parents, Pearl and George Vance;

her husband of 66 years, Roland Saathoff Sr.; daughters, Patsy
