Injuries Fatal to Maxwell Pitts, 9
Funeral services for Maxwell Pitts, nine-year-old son of Mr. and
Mrs. Harold Pitts of Barberton, will be held from the Methodist
church in Chandlersville Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with
burial in the Chandlersville cemetery. The body was removed to
the home of an uncle, Warren Pitts in Chandlersville from the Mock
funeral home in New Concord Monday evening. The youth died in the
Coshocton City hospital Sunday evening at 7:30 o'clock from a
fractured scull sustained in an automobile accident near Coshocton.
The boy with his father, Harold Pitts, and another son, Billy, five,
were enroute to Chandlersville, their former home, when the
automobile driven by the elder Pitts and a coal truck driven by
V. J. Kaiser of Holmesville collided. The accident occurred nine
miles north of Coshocton on Rt. 75. The father suffered cuts and
bruises while the younger Pitts sustained a broken nose and cuts.
The mother and a sister of the deceased, Margaret Ellen, had gone
to Detroit, Mich., to spend the Labor Day hoilday, with the father
and two sons were going to Chandlersville.

Benton County, Ar. Aug. 25, 1898. Preceded in death by his loving
wife of 72 years, Oma Cox. Survived by his daughter, Marion Allen,
OKC; 4 granddaughters, Catherine Pylant, Mission, Tx., Barbara
Filler, Canton, Ga., Charlotte Cowey, Carmel,In., Susanna Allen,
OKC; 7 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren; sister,
Izella Pinkston, Sapulpa; and a host of faithful friends. He was a
faithful worker and member of Crossroads Cathedral. He especially
enjoyed being an usher and any other job that needed doing. "I have
fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the
faith: henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness."
Services 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Bill Merritt Chapel.

TYLER, Texas - Dr. Charles Bayne "Charlie" Harrell, 63, of Tyler,
Texas, died July 11, 2004, at Hospice of East Texas at Tyler. He
was born Aug. 27, 1940, at Decatur, Texas. At the age of 6, he was
stricken with polio. After many summers of treatments at Shriner's
Crippled Children's Hospital at Shreveport, La., he joined the
marching band and served as a lifeguard at Barbrook Swimming Pool
at Haltom City, Texas. He was a graduate of Birdville High School
at Haltom City. He received a bachelor's degree from Arlington State
College at Arlington, Texas. He also was a graduate of Louisiana
State University at Baton Rouge, La., where he received a master of
science degree in library science. He graduated with honors from
North Texas State University at Denton, Texas, where he received a
doctorate of library science. Dr. Harrell worked for the University
of Texas, where he often worked with the National Archives in
Washington, D.C., for 35 years. While in Arlington, he reactivated
the Alpha Phi Omega Boy Scout fraternity. He was active in the Order
of the Arrow, where he served as a local, state and national officer.
He was an Eagle Scout and was active in all phases of scouting. He
was active in the Texas Library Association, where he served as
president from 1990 to 1991. He also was involved with the American
Library Association, Texas Map Society, Tyler Literacy Council and
McClendon House Board of Tyler. Survivors include his mother, Wilma
Tinsdale of Pittsburg; one daughter, Amelia Elizabeth Harrell of
Houston; two sisters, Glenda Best and Judy Bicknell, both of
Pittsburg; a very special friend, Fredrieka Ankele of Fort Worth,
Texas; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins. He was
preceded in death by his father, Oscar Bayne "Tex" Harrell in March
of 1950. The cremains will be interred at Mt. Olivet in Fort Worth
at a later date.
