Myrtle Howell Gregory, 81, of Airway Road, Spencer, died Wednesday,
Nov. 24, 2004, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville. She was born
in Patrick County on Oct. 23, 1923, to Emmitt O. Howell and Nora
Knowles Howell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death
by a son, Jack Howell Gregory; four sisters, Virginia H. Inman,
Margie H. Weeks, Lillian H. Cockram and Elva H. Harris; and two
brothers, Roy E. Howell and Glenn Howell. She belonged to Friendly
Christian Church in Spencer. Surviving are her husband, Paul A.
Gregory Sr. of the home; two sons, Paul A. Gregory Jr. of Amelia and
Johnnie W. Gregory of Hopewell; three daughters, Judith A. Green of
Spencer, Dianne M. Walters of Bahama, N.C., and Jane E. Gregory of
Spencer; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother,
William D. Howell of Martinsville; and two sisters, Annie H. Helms
of Vesta and Alpha Campinella of Sacramento, Calif. The funeral
will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with
Minister Don Forrester officiating. Burial will follow in
Eden-Knowles Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the
funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.

Rites at Methodist Church Thursday for Mrs. Kate Lear
CROOKSVILLE - Funeral services will be held at 1:30 o'clock Thursday
afternoon at the Iliff Methodist church for Mrs. Kate Lear, 70, of
Crooksville, Route 2. Rev. R. P. Baumgardner and Rev R. Lee Hall
will officiate with burial in Iliff cemetery. The body will be
returned to the residence at 6 o'clock this evening from the Cannon
& Cannon funeral home at Crooksville. Mrs. Lear, wife of Geroge
Lear, died yesterday afternoon at Good Samaritan hospital,
Zanesville. She was a member of the Pilgrim Holiness church.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, Gerald, of the home;
four daughters, Mrs. Homer Ault of Mineral Ridge, O.; Mrs. Charles
Smith of Crooksville, Route 2, Mrs. Georgia Lanning of Columbus, and
Mrs. Dwight Johnson of Lancaster; eight grandchildren and four
great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Lee Brumage and Mrs. Samuel
Colborn, both of Crooksville Route 2; and several nieces and
nephews.

Mrs Dora C Hardesty, 70, of 266-1/2 S Seventh St., died at 7:50 p.m.
Tuesday at County Memorial Hospital following an illness of several
months. Born Feb 17, 1900 at Malta, O., she was a daughter of George W
and Blanch Gray Savage. She was married May 11, 1920, to Harold L
Hardesty, who died March 1, 1952. Mrs Hardesty was a former member of
the Presbyterian Church. She had been a cook at Isaly Dairy Store and
Restaraunt for 25 years, retiring last October. Surviving are three
daughters, Mrs Thomas (Eleanor) Mattioni, Canal Lewisville; Mrs. Don
(Iona) Latham, Newark, and Mrs Donald (Becky) Arden, Coshocton Route 2;
two sons, Harold Hardesty Jr. and Richard Hardesty, both of Coshocton,
and 12 grandchildren. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at
Dawson Funeral Home in charge of Rev. Robert Smeltzer. Burial will be
in South Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to
4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
