KNOWLES, Frances A., 73, of Christiansburg, died Wednesday morning, September 16, 1998, in a Blacksburg health care center. She was retired from Radford Army Ammunition Plant, where she served many years as a registered nurse. Surviving are one son, William M. Knowles; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Richard H. Horne, Christiansburg; their children, Heather L. Horne, Winter Park, Fla.. and Brian R. H. Horne, Christiansburg, Katinka and Dale Hawley, Christiansburg; and their children, Jeff and John Hawley, both of Christiansburg; one sister, Mildred Thomson of Floyd; three brothers and sisters-in-law, John F. and Louise Angle, Warner Robins, Ga., Sam and Gwinn Angle, Radford, Lewis and Christine Angle of Check. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday from the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Doug Kanney. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery. The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to Gentle Shepherd Hospice, Box 3754, Radford, Va. 24143, the St. Paul United Methodist Church, 220 W. Main St., Christiansburg, Va. 24073, or the church or charity of one's choice. Friends may call after noon Thursday at the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home, and the family will receive friends there from 6 to 8 p.m.

St. Marys - Chesta Elizabeth Stienecker, 33, of 417 N. Wayne, died at 1:30 p.m. Thursday from a gunshot wound. Mrs. Stienecker had been in ill health for some time. Allen County Coroner, Dr. William E. Noble ruled the victim died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in her right temple. Born Dec. 20, 1929, in Lima, she was a daughter of Robert E. and Opal (Katter) Crusie. Mrs. Stienecker had lived in St. Marys sinch 1946. In 1948, she was married to Marvin E. Stienecker. He survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Dianne and Tisha Ann, both at home; one son, Steven, at home; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Crusie of St. Marys; her grandfather, Fred C. Katter; one sister, Mrs. Carman (Kathryn) Diedrick of St. Marys; one brother, Robert Crusie of St. Marys; and parents-in-law, Glendo Stiencker of St. Marys and Mrs. Clara Horner of Fostoria. A former employe of Goodyear and the Joint Township Hospital, Mrs. Stienecer was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Women of the Church. Services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Yoder and Long Funeral Home in St. Marys. Rev. Alvin J. Prange will officiate, and burial will be in Elmgrove Cemetery. Friends amy call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today.
