KNOWLES, Roy Emmitt, 83, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, January 30, 1999, in Rocky Mount. He was born February 28, 1915, in Franklin County to the late Robert L. and Roberta A. Knowles. Roy was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Shirley Parrish Knowles. Surviving family includes his daughter, Opal Fulton of Roanoke; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph O. & Margaret Knowles of Ridgeway, Fred F. and Elise Knowles of Boones Mill; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 2, 1999, at the Lotz Vinton Chapel with the Rev. Marvin Jacobs officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, February 1, at the Lotz Vinton Chapel.
