Notes:

In his younger days, Wallace was a bit of a bootlegger. Leonard Longley relates a story of Wallace coming to visit once with a tarp over the back of his pickup. Under the tarp was a layer of Bibles he was "selling". Under the Bibles were cases and cases of whiskey. Shortly after he left, authorities showed up at the house looking for him - but alas, they missed him once again. Wallace was remembered as a jovial sort of fella, but he could work up a temper. Leonard remembers one time that Wallace was ready to leave and went out to hand-crank the car. Apparently the car was still in gear and tried to run Wallace over when it started. Wallace pulled the crank out and threw it through the windshield at that blasted car. The crank didn't stop it, but a tree did.
