Miss Lyde Savage, 78, Died Friday Following a Lingering Illness
Miss Lyde Savage, 78, a well known resident of McConnelsville, died at her home Friday following a linger illness from infirmities. She was born and reared and spent most of her life in Windsor township, but moved to McConnelsville a few years ago. Miss Savage was a member of the M. P. church at Stockport and is survived by one sister and two brothers, Mrs. Elizabeth (Harkns, ) Broadwell, John and George Savage, all of McConnelsville. The funeral will be conducted at the Stockort M. P. church at 1:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon and burial will be made in the Stockport cemetery.

Foy Wayne was born in San Antonio during the depression, October 13, 1930 to Foy Charles and Velma Mae (Barker) Knowles (see Foy Charles Knowles). He has lived in Coleman since he was 9 months old and lived most of his boyhood days near the city park. Many happy hours was spent in the wading pool at the park then. He went to West Ward School and one of his principals was D. E. Loveless. At the age of 16, he bought his first truck. It was a 1937 Red Ford from Earl Morris without a dime down and no one signed his note. He paid it out by hauling grain and later burlap bags. He went to the First Presbyterian Church, later he joined the Bible Baptist Church, where Bro. T. L. Slimp was pastor. There is where he met and married Louella, daughter of Rev. T. L. and Cassie (Brown) Slimp in 1949. Foy Wayne and Fred Knowles, his cousin, owned Knowles Feed and Seed from 1965 to 1969. He leases Bob O'Hair's land northeast of Coleman where he raises cattle and farms. He owns 3K Bar B Que. He and his family are members of the Concho Baptist Church. He had three children: a daughter, Cathey Lou Ann, died at birth, and two sons; Foy Wayne Jr. and Roy Lane. Wayne Jr. married Cindy Smith and have two sons - Troy Shane, born in January 1979, and Cody Zane, November 1981 (see Robert Crow Bassett, Sr.).
