Nelsonville, April 8. - Sam Longley, former baseball umpire, made an error and tramped on the wrong "jigger" while attempting to park his coupe on the Public Square last night. Sam landed right on the sidewalk and was headed for the plate glass window of the Hub Clothing store when he nonchalantly made a left turn and finally brough his car to a graceful parking rest. Spectators got quite a thrill from the demonstration.

Former Philo Man Dies in Nelsonville
Word has been received at Philo of the death of Sam Longley, 67, a former resident of Philo, which occurred yesterday in Nelsonville. Funeral services and burial will take place at Nelsonville Friday afternoon. C.E.Longley of Philo, is a cousin.

McConnelsville - Howard Curtis McElhiney, 74, of near McConnelsville, a retired farmer, died at 1:55 a.m. Sunday (Nov 3) in Selby Hospital in Marietta where he had been a patient 10 days. He was born April 30, 1894, in Morgan County, a son of William and Nancy James McElhiney. He was a member of Main Street Church of Christ here. Surviving are his widow, the former Bessie Mell who he married July 14, 1914; two daughters, Mrs. Jean Pettit and Mrs. Mary Wetherell; a son, Gerrold, all of McConnelsville Route 4; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Miss Nelle McElhiney, Miss Delma McElhiney and Mrs. Helen Guerin, all of McConnelsville Route 4. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Fisher Funeral Home in McConnelsville where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday with Evangelist Fred Albrecht officiating. Burial will be in McConnelsville Cemetery.
