Vigil service for Edward N. Thill, 82, will be at 7 p.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Funeral Mass is set for 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Mr. Thill, who was born in Missoula, died Wednesday. He was a 50-year Spokane resident and owned Proprietor Auto Parts Shop. His memberships included St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Elks Lodge No. 1753, America Association of Retired Persons and the Moose Lodge. He was an associate member of Benchwarmers of Colville, Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Martha (Ferrell) Thill; two sons, Edward Thill of Yakima and Charles Thill of Spokane; two daughters, Anna Marie Karlson of Florence, Mont., and Mary Jo Kern of Ellensburg; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the Poor Clare Nuns.

Heart Attack Fatal to Dallas S Thomas
McConnelsville, O - Dallas S Thomas, 59, former part owner and manager of the Muskingum Valley Creamery Co here, died at 7 o'clock this morning in Bethesda hospital in Zanesville. He suffered a heart attack at his home here a few hours earlier. Mr Thomas retired five years ago after selling his interest in the creamery. He was a life-long resident of McConnelsville. He was a member of Corinthian lodge FA&M and attended Trinity Methodist church. Surviving are his widow, Mable, and a brother , Emmett Thomas of Columbus. The body was removed to the Miller funeral home here.

Preceded in death by his parents, six siblings, first wife JoeAnne Winegar and daughter Roy Anne Grace Thomas. Memorial Services will be held Saturday, May 13th, at 11 a.m. at the Taylors Grove Ward, 4800 South 1350 West. Graveside dedication at Camp Williams will follow.

McConnelsville - Mrs. Mabel L. Thomas, 82, of McConnelsville died at 5 p.m. Saturday at Summit Acres Nursing Home in Caldwell following a long illness. She had been a patient at the home three years. Born Feb 23. 1889, in McConnelsville, she was the daughter of Virgil and Maggie Longley Van Horn. Her husband, Dallas Thomas died in 1949. Mrs. Thomas was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star Chapter, both of McConnelsville. She is survived by four nieces, Mrs. Ginger Connard and Mrs. Barbara Radcliff, both of Columbus, Mrs. Hulda Upward and Mrs. Shirley Gnegy, both of Detroit, Mich; a nephew, Bud Ralston of Caldwell. Two sisters are deceased. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Miller Funeral Home here where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday conducted by Rev. Thomas Snyder. Burial will be in McConnelsville Cemetery.

Raymond graduated Summa Cum Laude from Lumberton High School. He was a North Carolina Scholar and a member of the Beta Club. He was planning to attend North Carolina State University in the fall. FORT WORTH - George E. Tillery, a retired aircraft inspector for General Dynamics, died Friday at a Fort Worth hospital. He was 78. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Laurel Land Funeral Home in Fort Worth. Burial will be in Laurel Land Memorial Park. Mr. Tillery was born in Vernon and lived in Fort Worth for more than 50 years. He worked at General Dynamics, now Lockheed Fort Worth, for 39 years before his retirement. Mr. Tillery was a member of Masonic Lodge 1184, the Scottish Rite and the International Association of Machinists. Survivors: Wife, June L. Tillery of Fort Worth; daughter, Beverly Jean Pellegrini of Clearwater, Fla.; stepdaughter, Yvonne Kincaid of Arlington; stepson, R. Crooksville - Mrs. Laura Watts Tipton, 66, of Taylor street in Crooksville died at 12:30 p.m. Sunday in the Perry County Hospital in New Lexington, following a lingering illness. She was a retired decorator for the Crooksville China Company where she worked for 40 years. Born Aug. 26, 1892, she was a daughter of James and Louie Shears Watts, early residents of Clayton Township in Perry County. Mrs. Tipton was a member of the Crooksville Methodist Church and the Whiteware Union of NB and OP. She is survived by a brother, Pearl Watts of Crooksville; a sister, Mrs. Jack Wahl of Roseville and several nieces and nephews. The body is at the Cannon and Cannon Funeral Home in Crooksville where services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Ralph Tucker officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Horeb Cemetery, near Crooksville. Friends may call at the home after 6 p.m. Monday.

Born Jan. 7, 1947, in Quanah to Paul E. and Elizabeth Matthews Turvaville, he married Sharon Ruth Baker June 22, 2002. He worked for Lockheed Martin of Fort Worth for more than 35 years. He served in the U.S. Army from 1965-1966, received the national Defense Service Medal for Marksmanship. He was a member of the Crafton and Alvord Volunteer Fire Departments and a Master Mason of the Riverside Lodge No. 1194. He is survived by his wife; sons, Mike Turvaville and wife, Donya, of Keller and Jacob Turvaville of Alvord; daughters, Cheryl Almond and husband, Ben, of Watauga, Paula Turvaville of Bridgeport and Chrystal Rider and husband, Cale, of Chico; brother, Raymond Turvaville and wife, Janice, of Chillicothe; sister, Doris McBeth and husband, Marc, of Lubbock; and eight grandchildren. Annette Kern Tyler, 78 Devoted wife, mother, nana, loved deeply by her family, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2007. She was born in Prescott on July 24,1928. She met Jim Tyler in Tombstone and married in 1946. They moved to Phoenix in 1950 and lived there for 47 years. They retired to Camp Verde in 1997. She has two daughters Laurel Rountree (Ed) and Corky Flick (Bill), four grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and sister, Marie Jesberger. She was preceded in death by her twin brother, Michael Kern and her sister, Kathy Malone. She and Jim traveled extensively over North America from Alaska to Mexico. She worked as a bookkeeper during her years in Phoenix. She and Jim spent their summers at their beautiful cabin in Lakeside. She always put her family first, was a devoted Catholic who served faithfully in her church, and loved her gardening. She will forever be remembered among her beautiful flowers. Now she lies at peace in her heavenly garden. Mom, your smile is prettier than your loveliest rose. A memorial mass will take place 10:30AM Monday, May 14, 2007 , a recital of the rosary will be prior to the service at 9:30AM at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 781 S. Cliffs Parkway in Camp Verde. Bueler Camp Verde Funeral Home assisted the family.

Born May 18 1902 he was a son of Samuel and Dora Young Twyman. A lifelong resident of the Zanesville vicinity he was a retired employe of Ohio Ferro-Alloy Corp. He was a member of the First Methodist Church and a Navy veteran of World War 1. Mr. Twyman is survived by his widow, Fern, a son Donald of 215 Searle street an uncle Sherman Twyman of 1222 Moxahala avenue and two grandchildren. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Putnam Avenue Chapel of Bolin Bryan Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Bryant officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn.

Mr. Twyman was a mould maker for Zanesville Mould Company and a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church. Surviving are his wife, Patricia A. Montgomery Twyman, whom he married Feb 14, 1970, are two daughters, Erin and Amy; two sons, Joshua and Jacob; all of the home; and one sister, Mrs. Howard (Peggy) Zwelling of 728 Lenox Avenue. Donald Dewey Twyman, 55, of 2255 Old River Road, died at 2:40 pm Sunday at Good Samaritan Medical Center. He had been ill for five years and have been hospitalized since November 16th. Mr. Twyman retired from McGraw -Edison Power System Division in 1974 after 25 years of service. A member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church and a Navy Veteran of World War II, Mr. Twyman was born July 30, 1923, in Zanesville. He was a son of Mrs. Fern Beatty of the home and the late Chester Twyman. Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Shirley Loewendick Twyman, whom he married July 23, 1949; a daughter, Mrs. Edward (Peggy) Rouan of 1019 Maple Avenue; a son, D. Daniel of 900 Lent Road; and four grandchildren. Friends may call 7 to 9 pm today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Tuesday at Hillis Funeral Home, where the Rosary will be recited at 7:30 pm Tuesday. ZANESVLLE -Shirley A. Loewendick Twyman, 78, of Zanesville, died at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2008, at SharonBrooke in Newark, following a lengthy illness. She was born Monday, Jan. 13, 1930, in Zanesville, the daughter of the late Theodore and Lelia Bollinger Loewendick. She was a lifelong member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, graduated from St. Thomas School and was formerly employed as a sales clerk with J.C. Penney and a homemaker. Shirley was a generous and caring person; always a caregiver for her family. She was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had a great sense of humor and brightened the day of everyone she knew. An avid lover of nature, including an animal and bird lover, she was an avid antique enthusiast, arrowhead collector, flower gardener, seamstress and loved to cook and bake for her family and friends. She is survived by one daughter-in-law, Patty and Mike Parrish of Zanesville; five grandchildren, Erin and John Lang, Amy (Jimmy Smith) Twyman, Joshua L. (Sara) Twyman, Jacob and Jackie Twyman and Ross M. Zwelling, all of Zanesville; 16 great-grandchildren, Miranda and Logan Lazar, Chance and Wyatt Lang, Madison and Faith Dressler, Kaila and Kaid Smith, Jordan Rucker, Dakota, Autumn, Jessica, Olivia and Taylor Twyman and Hunter and Gage Twyman; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Loewendick of Zanesville; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Don Twyman, whom she married Saturday, July 23, 1949, and who died Nov. 19, 1978; one son, Dan Twyman, who died April 4, 1983; one daughter, Peggy Zwelling, who died May 9, 2003; two brothers, Ted and Bob Loewendick; and three sisters, Dorothy "Dot" Lemmon, Jean Gainer and Marilyn Walpole. Calling hours will be 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 13, at The Hillis & Hardwick Funeral Home, 935 Forest Ave., with a Christian vigil service at 5 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 14, 2008, at St.Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, with Father Jordan Turano as celebrant. In loving memory of Heber Adolf Arien Vlam a brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather and friend returned to his Heavenly Father on Sunday, March 14, 2004. Heber was brought into this world by his loving parents, Pieter Vlam and Hanna Melanie Gysler, raised in the beautiful land of Holland. After surviving World War II in occupied Holland, Heber at the age sixteen immigrated by ship with his family to The United States of America. Heber served in the army for several years and obtained the rank of Corporal. He later served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Swiss-Austria Mission. Heber, a devout member of the LDS Church, served in many capacities within the church. He is remembered with his divine attributes of unconditional love, humility, endurance, humor, selflessness, giving and non-judgmental to all. He was caring, the leader of the band, a best friend, a great listener and supporter. Heber received his masters in Geology and a Civil Engineering degree. He had an outstanding career with the Utah Department of Transportation for more than thirty years. Heber enjoyed many outdoor activities, skiing, hiking, boating, rock collecting and many other sports. Heber married Karen Lee Mills in the Logan Utah Temple on the 26th day of October 1962; they were later blessed with eight children. The family will find comfort in knowing Heber will be with them forever and is preparing a way for them. Survived by loving wife Karen, children Melanie (Ronald) Winterton, Clark (Jodi) Vlam, Melissa (Anthony) Hammond, Curtis (Sheri) Vlam, Chris (Ericka) Vlam, Marci (Jared) Draper, Mandi Vlam and Misti Vlam, sister Grace Vlam, sister-in-law Marilee Vlam; along with thirteen beautiful grandchildren. Preceded by Pieter (father), Hanna Melanie (mother), Alvin (brother) and Vera (sister). On April 7, 1968, Jerry and Sandra Sue Denton were united in marriage in West Plains. Jerry and Sandra were blessed with two daughters. Jerry served his country with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War 1966 - l968. Jerry was employed as manager of the Wallace and Owens Grocery in Ava for many years. He was also pastor at Roy Union Church for 15 years. He enjoyed his church and preaching, playing with his granddaughter, being with his daughters and family. Jerry also enjoyed a good car trade. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Estil Vonallmen and Ruby May Montgomery Vonallmen Earls; his wife, Sandra Sue; and one brother, Billy Ray Vonallmen. He is survived by his daughters, Melanie Lynn Whittaker and husband, Kelvin, Bradleyville, and Melinda Sue Hall and husband, Robert, Ava; one granddaughter, Hailey Sue Hall, Ava; his siblings, Shirley Earls, and husband, Jerry, West Plains, Doyle Vonallmen and wife, Juanita, Springfield, Dennis E. Vonallmen and wife Joyce, West Plains, Bonnie Caudel and her fiancé, James Matlock, Harrison, Ark.; and a host of other relatives and friends. Graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, in the Ava Cemetery, with the Rev. Randy Dalton officiating. Services were under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with military service conducted by Ava V.F.W. Post 5993 and American Legion Post 112. Sandra Sue Vonallmen, daughter of Milo Denton and Rose Parnell Denton, was born on Oct. 17, 1949 in Thayer, and entered into Heaven on Nov. 13, 2005 at the age of 56 years. Sandra was a resident of the Ava community for 34 years, moving from West Plains. On April 7, 1968, Sandra and Jerry Vonallmen were united in marriage in West Plains and to this union two daughters were born. She was a cook for the Ava Elementary School for 15 years. Sandra was a member of the Roy Union Church where her husband is pastor, and assisted him in his ministry. She loved her family and cherished every moment with them. Sandra loved singing with her daughters and husband in their family quartet. She also loved her church family and working in the church, singing, worshipping and praying for others. She truly loved her Lord and her life was a living testimony for Jesus. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Sandra was preceded in death by her father, Milo Denton, and one sister, Susan Kate Manes. Her survivors include her husband, Jerry of the home in Ava; two daughters and their husbands, Melanie and Kelvin Whittaker, Bradleyville, and Melinda and Robert Hall, Ava; one granddaughter, Hailey Sue Hall; her mother, Rose (Parnell) Denton, Mammoth Springs, Ark.; two nieces, Michelle Buchanan and Lacey Lingenfelter; and several other family and friends. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, at the Ava Cemetery with the Revs. Dennis and Ricky Vonallmen officiating. She worked as a bookkeeper for Bank of America in Porterville. She later worked as a food service director for Camp Oakhurst, a camp for children and adults in Oakhurst, for many years. She worked at a grocery store deli for seven years and as a baker for a bakery, both in Oregon. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, George Walker of Soulsbyville; sons and daughters-in-law, Rodney Lee and Pamela Walker of Portland, Ore., Steven Dwane and Cheryl Walker of Porterville and Glen Michael and Rebecca Walker, and Gregory Charles and Lynn Renee Walker, all of Twain Harte; a brother, Kenneth Longley of Los Angeles; sisters, Roberta Walker and Lola Moe, both of Santa Maria; and grandchildren, Ryan Travis, Daniel and his wife, Jennifer, Erin Edith, Joel Robert, Christina Jolene, Megan Marie, Lauren Elizabeth, James Richard and Nicolas Robert Walker. A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. tomorrow at Sierra Bible Church in Sonora. A second memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at Valley Oak Community Church in Porterville. She married Ulys C. Ward on April 10, 1933 at Ardmore. He preceded her in death on December 3, 1995. She had lived in this area all her life and graduated from Sulphur High School. She worked as a clerk at Green's and James Department Stores in Sulphur and for 27 years was the deputy county assessor for Murray County. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Beth and G. O. Philpot, Ada; three sons, Sid and Flo Ward, Moore, Steve and Mary Ward, Alva, and Terry and Diana Ward, Oklahoma City; one sister, Edith Braden, Sulphur; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Chase Ward Ebeling; three sisters and two brothers. Pallbearers were G. O. He was born Aug. 8, 1913, in Rockingham County and was a son of the late Charles and Nellie Longley Watkins. Mr. Watkins was a construction worker and a member of Shenandoah Moose Lodge 2176. On Dec. 5, 1980, he married the former Velma Hensley, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Charles Watkins of Stuarts Draft; two daughters, Shirley Lewis of Stuarts Draft and Barbara Watkins of Defiance, Ohio; three stepsons, Herbert Hensley Jr. of Nashville, Tenn., Pharis Hensley of Elkton and Jerrell Berry of Burke; a stepdaughter, Marilyn Shifflett, at home; a sister, Geneva Watkins of Elkton; and seven grandchildren. Crooksville - Funeral services for Mrs. Alphretta Watts, 74, of Crooksville will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the First Methodist church here with Rev. Roy Ballard officiating. Burial will be in the Crooksville ccemetery. Mrs. Watts, widow of Clarence Watts, died Wednesday at her home and the body has been taken to the Fred L. Cannon funeral home here where it will remain until 1:30 Saturday afternoon when it will be taken to the church to lie in state. She was born in Thorn township, Perry County, a daughter of Charles and Alice Baker Swickand was a member of the First Methodist church. Surviving are a son, James of Crooksville; two daughters, Mrs. Pearl Penrod of New Lexington and Mrs. Alice Scarret of Newark; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a half-brother George Spangler of New Lexington and a half-sister, Mrs. Minnie Dunn of Sandusky.

A. E. (Gene) Watts, 83, a native of Crooksville, died Wednesday evening at his home in North Canton after a long illness. Mr. Watts was born in Crooksville, April 11, 1890, a son of George W. and Susan Triplett Watts. Surviving are his widow, Rose Flowers Watts; two sons, George and Rhoderick, both of North Canton; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Three sisters and four brothers are deceased. Mr. Watts was a member of North Canton Catholic Church. He retired several years ago from the Hoover Company Plant in North Canton, where he was a member of the company's band. A talented musician, he had been a member of the Old Zanesville Armco Band, the Canton American Legion Post Band, which won high honors in the First Division National contest for several years in concert competition. He was also a member of the original Old Seventh Regiment Ohio National Guard Unit. Funeral services will be held at the North Canton Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Crooksville M.E. church with Mr. Stotler officiating. Burial will be made in the Crooksville cemetery. Mrs. Watts was born and reared in Deavertown but had made her home in Crooksville for several years. Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Gerald Stanberry Watts, aged eight months at home; her father, E. L. Stanberry and the following brothers and sisters: Robert, Ellwood, Edgar, Misses Louella and Letha Stanberry, all of Deavertown.

H. Carl Watts, aged 46, died at his home in Adams Mills Friday night at 11 o'clock from peritonitis. He became seriously ill while at work Thursday. he was born August 22, 1885, at Adams Mills, where he spent his entire life. He was the son of the late Howard and Sarah Watts. Mr. Watts was a member of Moose Lodge at Coshocton. He was married to Miss Georgianna Nichols in May, 1931, by Rev. Carpenter of Zanesville. Surviving are the widow, one brother, Theodore Watts of Trenton, Iowa; one sister, Mrs. Uriah Slaughter of Willowbrook, California; six nephews and nine nieces. Funeral services will be conducted at the late home Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock by Rev. Carpenter. Burial will be made in the Adams Mills Cemetery.

Watts, 46, who died of a heart attack at his home, 2025 Hoge avenue, Saturday afternoon, will be held at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the DeLong and baker funeral home. The. Frev. Frank Clarke, pastor of the First Methodist church, will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Horab. Mr. Watts had undergone surgery about a month ago and had not yeat returned to work at the Terrace Point Martinizing cleaning plant although he was recovering. Mr. Watts was born in Fultonham 46 years ago Saturday. He formerly resided in Crooksville and Coshocton before moving here about two years ago. He was a member of Coshocton Aerie No. 781, Fraternal order of Eagles. Surviving are his widow, Laura; and daughter, Mrs. Penny Newton and three grandchildren of the home; two brothers, Clarence of Cincinnati and Floyd of this city. Another brother, Lester Watts preceded him in death.

CROOKSVILLE MAN IS KILLED IN FALL
Carlos Watts, 20, of Crooksville, was instantly killed at 7:30 Friday evening when he fell from the roof of a porch at his home on China street in that village. Persons near the scene of the tragedy summoned Dr. J. P. Workman, who found that Watts had sustained a broken neck in the fall. He said that death was instantaneous. Watts was married only a month ago and his bride was home at the time of the tragedy. The suicide theory was suggested to officials, although no motive was found and the death will be investigated.

Mr. Watts was the last surviving member of the original incorporators of the Hull company and served as secretary treasurer of the firm until ill health forced his retirement several years ago. Surviving are his widow Emma K, one son Gerald of Crooksville, one daughter Hazel M of the home and several grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the residence with Chalmer Stattler officiating. Burial will be in Crooksville cemetery. The body was returned to the residence from Cannon and Cannon funeral home Crooksville.

Surviving are his widow, Kathryn; a daughter, Mrs Phoebe Ann Raymond of Lancaster; a sister, Miss Helen Watts of Crooksville; a brother, Harold of Columbus; and one grandchild. She was a member of the South Zanesville United Methodist Church and had attended the First Methodist Church in Crooksville. She was a Born Again Christian by Faith. She was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post 229 of Crooksville. Surviving are three children, Neddena (Mike) Young of Zanesville, Karla (Craig) Bankes of Zanesville and Brian Watts of Cambridge; four grandsons, Garrett Young, Jordan Young, Brandon Bankes and Braden Bankes; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ned Watts; two brothers, Carl Gibson and Russell Gibson; and two sisters, Louanna Shipley and Alice Perdue. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2007, at the William Thompson & Son Funeral Home, 5765 Gladstone Drive, White Cottage. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2007, at William Thompson & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. John Dawson officiating. Burial will follow at Crooksville Cemetery. Edward E. Watts Dies, Musician.
Edward E. Watts, 95, of 58-1/2 North Buckey street, Crooksville, a retired employee of Hull Pottery Company, died at 2:45 p.m. Monday at his home after a long illness. He was a pioneer resident of Crooksville and was well known in musical circles. He was born July 20, 1876, in Crooksville, a son of George W. and Susan Triplett Watts. His wife, the former Lou E. Baker, died in 1945. At an early age he became interested in music. Self instructed, at the age of 16 he was a member of the "Bauer Band" of Zanesville. He was later a member and director of the Sevent Regiment band of the Ohio National Guard. He also played first chair soloist cornet with Amrou Grotto Band and held the same position with the Armco Band which he later conducted. Also a retired member of Zanesville Memorial Band, he wrote and arranged music. His bast known composition was the March Wattsonian, many times included on the local concert programs and played by bands throughout the country including the United States Army Band. He was also a member of the old Weller Theather orchestra. In 1910 he moved to Everett, Wash, and taught and played proffesionally in theaters in Washington and Oregon. He studied trumpet and cornet at Legores Conservatory of Music in Seattle under the direction of Albert Cleveland and Richard Strauss, internationally known artists of the day. Returning to Crooksville, he organized a band and taught band and music at Crooksville, Roseville, and McLuney high schools. Mr. Watts organized the first Sunday School orchestra and directed the choir and orchestra in the First Methodist Church of Crooksville. He arranged many musical programs for the American Legion ad other civic groups in Crooksville. Mr. Watts was employed at Hull Pottery until retiring at the age of 90. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, National Brotherhood of Operative Potters and the American Federation of Musicians Local 54, Zanesville. Surviving are a son, Ned Watts, clerk of courts in Perry County; and a daughter, Mrs. Fred (Gertrude) Cannon, both of Crooksville; a brother, A. E. (Gene) Watts of North Canton; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Three sisters and a brother are deceased. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Crooksville with Rev. Earse Mauler officiating. Burial will be in Crooksville Cemetery. Friends may call at Fred L. Cannon and Sons Funeral Home in Crooksville after 7 p.m. today.

CONESVILLE MAN, ILL TWO YEARS, DIES THURSDAY
Edward H. Watts, aged 49, former employe of the Pennsylvania railroad company, died at his home in Conesville this morning from the effects of a nervous breakdown. He suffered a breakdown two years ago and had been confined to his home since that time. He had been employed with the railroad company for 20 years. Mr. Watts was born January 17, 1882, in Adams Mills, the son of Howard and Sarah Watts. He was married to Sue A. Tilton, also of Adams Mills, December 22, 1904. He united with the Presbyterian church at Adams Mills when he was a young man. There are surviving the widow, three children, Mabel, who teaches in the New Guilford schools; Victor and Edward Watts, both of the late home; two brothers, Carl of Adams Mills and Theodore of Trenton, Iowa, and one sister, Mrs. Eura Slaughter of Willowbrook, California. Funeral services will be held at the late home at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon in charge of Rev. Ray Harrison of Conesville and Rev. Greeg of Adams Mills. Burial will be made in South Lawn cemetery.

Mrs. Elisabeth Watts, wife of Charles Watts, died of Typhoid fever Oct. 21, at 8 p.m. She was sick about seven weeks. Elizabeth Tracy was born in Hartford county, Md., Oct 2, 1823. Moved to Perry county, Ohio, in 1835. She was united in marriage to Charles Watts July 7, 1842. Seven children were born of this union, the husband and five of whom still survive here. The family moved to Illinois Oct 18, 1868. They located in Ivesdale in 1881, where they have since resided. Her sister and daughter from Caterville, Mo, and daughter from Laroy, Ill., and many other relatives and friends were by her bedside when the Master called. The funeral services were conducted on Monday by Rev. Boyd at the M.E. church, of which she was a faithful member. The remains were followed by her many friends and relatives and laid to rest in the Bement cemetery.

Elmer Watts Dies; Retired Rail Cashier
Elmer D. Watts, 74, of 407 Brighton boulevard, retired cashier for the New York Central Railroad in Zanesville died at 4:40 p.m. Sunday at Bethesda Hospital where he had been a patient since Friday evening with an acute heart condition. He was born in Crooksville, Dec. 7, 1896, a son of Edgar and Hattie Koon Watts. He moved to Zanesville in 1939. He retired from the railroad in 1960. Mr. Watts was a member of Crooksville United Methodist Church and was a life member American Legion in Zanesville. He was a veteran of World War I. Surviving are his widow, the former Gladys Mumford; a son, Keith Watts of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Jane) Downey of Crooksville, a sister, Mrs. Etta D Watts of McConnelsville; two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Friends may call at Crooksville Chapel of Cannon and Cannon Funeral Home after 7 p.m. today.

Crooksville - Mrs. Emma K. Watts, 96, of Crooksville died at 3 p.m. Monday (March 6) at her home after a long illness. She had lived in Crooksville 76 years. She was born in Paulding County, near Antwerp, Dec. 16, 1870, daughter of Josiah and Hester Oswalt Kemerer. Surviving are a daughter, Miss Hazel M. Watts of the home; five grandchildren, Gerald, Duane and Donald Watts, James Long and Mrs. Norma Walker. Her husband, William, died in 1951. Two sons, Gerald and Orval; three brothers and a sister are also deceased. Friends may call at Fred L. Cannon and Sons Funeral Home here after 7 p.m. today. Services will be held at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Thursday. Chalmer Stotler will officiate with burial in Crooksville Cemetery.

Born Oct. 19, 1886, in Shawnee, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gabriel Yousey. Surviving are a dauther, Mrs. Carl (Sue) Ditmarr of 1279 Greenwood avenue; two sons, Robert of the home and Lawrence of Crooksville; three grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. A son, Delmar, and her husband, Frank Watts, are deceased. Friends may call at Fred L. Cannon and Sons Funeral Home in Crooksville where services will be held at 3 p.m. today with Rev. Frank M. Watts, 66, of Crooksville died at 5:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon at Bethesda hospital following an illness. He was admitted at 1:45 o'clock in the afternoon. Mr. Watts, an employe of the A. E. Hull pottery at Crooksville, was a member of the Crooksville Methodist church, the Eagles lodge and the National Brotherhood of Operative Potters. Surviving are his widow, Emma; two sons, Robert Watts of the home and Lawrence of Crooksville; a daughter, Mrs. Carl Dittmar of 1279 Greenwood avenue; three brothers, Charles A. and Edward E. Watts of Crooksville and Eugene A. Watts of North Canton, and two sisters, Mrs. J. B. Young and Mrs. C. C. Coulter of Crooksville. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Susan, Jay, and David Watts. The body was removed to the Cannon & Cannon funeral home at Crooksville. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at the funeral home. Rev. Otto M. Wortman will officiate. Burial will be in Crooksville cemetery.

CROOKSVILLE - Ned Watts, 97, of Crooksville, died at 10:10 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2005, at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville. He was born Aug. 9, 1907, in Perry County, the son of the late Edward and Ellen Baker Watts. In his early years, Mr. Watts worked at Hull Pottery in Crooksville. He graduated from Crooksville High School and had also worked at Timken Roller Bearing in Canton. He was a deputy auditor for the State of Ohio before becoming Perry County Clerk of Courts, where he served for 50 years. Ned was a World War II veteran from 1942 to 1945 and was involved in the Normandy invasion. He was a member Crooksville American Legion Basil Grimes Post 222 and the Crooksville VFW Post 9090, where he was the bugler who played "Taps" for military funerals for close to 90 years. He was a member of the Crooksville Masonic Lodge, member of the Gideons International and a member of Crooksville First United Methodist Church. He was an honorary member of the Perry County Bar Association, a member of the Hull Pottery Association, and was the honorary bell-ringer for the Perry County Bicentennial celebration in 2003. Mr. Watts was awarded several medals of honor for his World War II service in June 2003, including European-African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with five Battle Participation Stars and one Bronze Arrowhead (Normandy), Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon Normandy Invasion 50th Anniversary Medal. He was also presented the first "Key to the City of Crooksville" by the late Mayor Doug Cannon for 51 years of community service in 1997. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Edith Lenora Gibson Watts; three children, Neddena (Mike) Young of Zanesville, Karla (Craig) Bankes of Zanesville and Brian Watts of Cambridge; four grandsons, Garrett Young, Jordan Young, Brandon Bankes and Braden Bankes; two nieces, Shirley (Buck) Harris of Crooksville and Barbara (Galen) Pittman of Austin, Texas; one nephew, Wally Cannon of San Diego, Calif.; and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister and brother-in-law, Gertrude and Fred Watts Cannon; another sister, Mary Francis Watts; one niece, Carolyn Cannon; and one nephew, Alan Cannon. Calling hours will be 6 to 9 p.m. today, June 16, at William Thompson & Son Funeral Home, 5765 Gladstone Drive, White Cottage. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 17, 2005, at Crooksville First United Methodist Church, 102 N. Buckeye St., Crooksville, where friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. with the Rev. Nancy Raypholtz officiating. Burial will take place in Crooksville Cemetery, where Crooksville Legion will conduct military services. Mrs. Pearl Watts Dies At Crooksville
Mrs. Georgia Daily Watts, 46, of Crooksville, died at her home at 11 o'clock Sunday night, following a week's illness of complications. She was a lifelong resident of Crooksville and was a member of the United Brethren church and several of its auxiliaries. Surviving in addition to her husband, Pearl Watts, are her mother, Mrs. Emma Boring, of Crooksville, a brother, Leo Boring, of Crooksville, and a sister, Mrs. Charles Sharkey, Crooksville route two. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the United Brethren church with Rev. C. A. Walters officiating. Burial will be in Crooksville cemetery. The body will be removed Monday afternoon to the Leo Boring residence, 532 Walnut street, from the Cannon and Cannon funeral home.
