LOBELVILLE, TN: Dillard Wade Ashby, 75, died Tuesday, June 20, at the home of his daughter, Cynthia Carter in Murfreesboro. Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 24, at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of Dilday Funeral Home with Rev. Donald E. Johnson officiating. Burial followed in the New Crossroads Cemetery. Mr. Ashby was born March 3, 1931, in Akron, Ohio, to the late Clarence and Ruby Pinkston Ashby. He was retired from the Department of Correction with the State of Tennessee for 25 years and was known as Hound Dog at Turney Center. He was an Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Ashby; one son, Steve Ashby; and two brothers, Donald Ashby and Harold Ashby. Survivors include: three daughters, Cynthia Carter of Murfreesboro, Kimberly Carter of Dickson and Valerie Johnson of Ogden, Illinois; two sons, Tim Ashby of Lobelville and Matt Ashby of Decaturville; one sister, Juanita Gist of Iuka, Mississippi; and one brother, J.C. Ashby of Winchester; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

MANSFIELD: Services were conducted at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, June 3 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Rev. Vance Rushing and Bill Lambert officiating. Burial followed in Hillcrest Cemetery. Ashby, 70, was dead on arrival, Friday morning, June 1 at the Henry County Medical Center emergency room. Born March 3, 1931, in Akron, Ohio, he was a son of Clarence and Ruby Pinkston Ashby. He was married October 17, 1953, to the former Bessie Ruth Davis who survives. Ashby retired after 30 years as a set up instructor with Emerson Electric. He served 40 years in the Army National Guard and was a member of Shiloh Methodist Church. In addition to his wife, he leaves a daughter, Donna Ashby Wade of Mansfield; three sons, Morris Ashby of McKenzie, Jeffrey Ashby of Hollow Rock and Kent Ashby of Mansfield; one sister, Juanita Gist of Iuka, Mississippi; two brothers, his twin, Dillard Ashby of Lobelville and J. C. Ashby of Winchester; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Harold Ashby.

JAMES "DEE" CLARY, 79, died Wednesday at Coalinga Community Hospital. A native of Davis, Okla., Mr. Clary lived in Hemet 40 years. He worked for Vons Markets before he retired in 1984. He also owned the meat concession in Welty's Supermarket in San Jacinto with a partner. He also was manager of the meat department for Safeway. He served in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II and became an aircraft mechanic. He also served in the Air Corps Training Command as a flight engineer and crew chief on the B-17 Flying Fortress. He belonged to the Southern Baptist Church. Mr. Clary is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sarah; two sons, David of Riverside and Bob of Hemet; two daughters, Karen Wilson of Washington and Barbara Morris of Coalinga; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mildred Gardner of Riverside and Estelle McMullen of Greenville. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at First Southern Baptist Church in Coalinga. Inurnment will be private. The Neptune Society of Fresno is handling arrangements. Memorial contributions: First Southern Baptist Church Building Fund, Coalinga.

Carole Sylvia Cuff, 74, of Eufaula, passed away February 11, 2007, at the Norman Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held 12:00 p.m., Thursday, February 15, 2007, at the Kelley Memorial Chapel with the Reverend Ronnie Drake officiating. Burial was held 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 16, 2007 at the Fort Gibson National Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Hunn, Black & Merritt Funeral Home. Carole was born on January 19, 1933, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the daughter of Vandiver "Doc" and Sylvia (McGee) Pinkston. She graduated from Capital Hill High School in 1949. Carole then received her Associates Degree in Nutrition from Rose State College. She worked as a nutritionist for Presbyterian Hospital for thirteen years. She then worked it the cafeteria at Crooked Oak Schools. On November 15, 1952, Carole married Ronald E. Cuff in Oklahoma City. They were happily married for fifty-two years. In 1992, Carole and Ron moved to Eufaula. She was a member of the Eufaula Eastern Star and in 2001 she became Worthy Matron. Carole was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church. Survivors include: her son, Kenneth Cuff and wife Sherrie of Oklahoma City; her daughter-in-law, Debbie of Eufaula; her grandchildren, Craig and Nancy Cuff of Oklahoma City, Angela Murray of Oklahoma City, Spencer and Donya Cuff of San Diego, California and Sylvia Cuff of Sarasota, Florida and her four great grandchildren, Austin, Brandon, Carson and Kristen. Carole is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ronald E. Sr. and one son, Ronald E. Jr. in 2006.

Ronald Earl Cuff, Jr., 51, of Eufaula passed away Friday, July 28, 2006, in Eufaula. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 31, at the North Fork Baptist Church with the Reverend Bruce Sanders officiating. Services are under the direction of Hunn, Black & Merritt Funeral Home of Eufaula. Ronald was born on October 12, 1954, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the son of Ronald Earl and Carole Sylvia (Pinkston) Cuff. He attended East Oak Elementary School and graduated in 1972 from Crooked Oak High School in Mid West City. Ronald then attended Rose State College. In May of 1976 Ronald enlisted in the United States Marines. He served in Okinawa and Iraq. While active in the service, he received the Rifle Marksman Badge, the Good Conduct Medal and achieved the rank of Lance Corporal. He was honorably discharged in November of 1980. On August 29, 1989, Ronald married Debra Ann Cox in Galveston, Texas. Ronald worked for the Corp of Engineers as a lock and dam operator. He was an avid weight lifter and former owner of the Rock Hard Gym. Ronald was a member of the OU Swarm and North Fork Baptist Church. Survivors include: his wife, Debra Ann Cuff of the home; son, Spencer Joe Detamore and wife Donya of San Diego, California; daughters, Angela Murray of Oklahoma City, and Sylvia Cuff of Sarasota, Florida; mother, Carole Sylvia Cuff; brother, Kenneth Wayne Cuff and wife Sherrie of Oklahoma City; nephew, Craig Cuff and wife Nancy of Oklahoma City; 3 great nephews and a best friend Jim Miller. He is preceded in death by his father, Ronald Cuff Sr. and his father-in-law S.J. Cox. Memorial contributions may be made to the Chapter of the Blue Star Mothers in Muskogee.

She lived in Sapulpa since 1916 and was a member of the Lee and Walnut Church of Christ. Mrs. Heasley is survived by 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

He was a member of the Laborer's International Union for 22 years. He was a member of the Romoland Assembly of God Church. He enjoyed watching baseball, gardening and traveling. He was a Dodgers fan. He is survived by his wife, Irene; three sons, Jimmy of Hemet, Robert of San Jacinto and Joe of Needles; a daughter, Maxine Barrow of Vacaville; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two sisters, Ramie Byrd of Moreno Valley and Maxine Byrd of Sulligent, Ala.

Kim was the only girl in the first set of triplets in Hemet's history. Kim was a homemaker. She is survived by her daughter Kristen Carol, 22 and a son, Brian Robert, age 20. She was the loving daughter of Robert L. and Karroll Y. Markham. Kim is also survived by the remaining triplets, 2 brothers, Robert Cody and Rex William Markham and 3 loving sisters, Ronda (Stan) Surbrook of Spokane, WA., Robin (John) Mitchell of Las Vegas, NV. and Karolyn (Rick) Hanks of San Jacinto, CA. Kim has one grandchild, Bailey Lee Ann and many nieces and nephews. She was wonderful and will be missed by all. Visitation is Tuesday, December 14, 2004 from 12:30-1:30pm at McWane Family Funeral Home in Hemet, CA. Greenville resident, Evelyn Mabel McMullen, peacefully passed from this life, to join her two children in her eternal home with the Lord, early Thursday morning, March 17, 2005 at Shasta Regional Medical Center, located in Redding. Born Evelyn Mabel Darneille, to the late John and Blanche Darneille in Los Angeles, Evelyn was raised in an orphanage in Texas, where she graduated from high school. At the age of 18, Evelyn moved to Oregon, before returning to California in 1962 to reside in Nelson, and then Gridley. It was here Evelyn met the love of her life, James Delno McMullen and after a three-week courtship the two were married in Reno, Nev. on July 21, 1978. The family shortly thereafter relocated to Greenville, where they have resided ever since. Evelyn was baptized into the Morman faith, but later in life had started attending the Greenville Southern Baptist Church. She avidly pursued outdoor interests to include fishing, hunting and camping. Evelyn was quite accomplished in the art of crafts where she enjoyed working with ceramics, knitting and crocheting. Evelyn is survived by her loving husband of more than 26 years, J.D. McMullen, of Greenville; son, Rick A. Isitt of Greenville; daughters, Roxanne Morse of Stockton, Mo., Rochelle McMullen and Carla Chavez, both of Sacramento; brothers, John Darneille of Houston, Texas and Henry Darneille of Klamath Falls, Ore.; sister, Cynthia Armstrong of Arizona; along with her precious seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Along with her parents, Evelyn is preceded in death by her dear children, Ralph and JoLinda. A time of visitation will be held at the Fehrman Mortuary Chapel in Greenville, and those who wish may call on Wednesday, March 23, 2005 from 9-11 a.m. A celebration of Evelyn's life will take place Wednesday at 11 a.m., on March 23, 2005 at the Fehrman Mortuary Chapel, Greenville, with Pastor Fred Kerr of the Greenville Southern Baptist Church officiating. Following cremation, private family inurnment will take place in the Greenville District Cemetery alongside her late son. Greenville resident Martha Estelle McMullen peacefully passed from this life early Saturday morning, April 29, 2006, at the Long Term Care Unit of Indian Valley Health Care District in Greenville. Estelle, as she was affectionately known, was born May 10, 1920 to the late William and Edna Clary in Oklahoma. She was a 57-year resident of Greenville. With a loving and caring heart, she dedicated her adult life to caring for her family. Estelle enjoyed the outdoors through fishing and camping and will be remembered in the community for the joy she brought to many through the beautiful wedding cakes she prepared and decorated. Estelle attended the Greenville Southern Baptist Church. Estelle is survived by her son, J.D. McMullen of Greenville; daughter Phyllis Ayres of Hemet; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She joins in the presence of the Lord her husband, Delno, who passed from this life Dec. 7, 1983, along with one brother and two sisters. A celebration of Estelle's life took place May 2 at the Greenville Southern Baptist Church. Interment followed alongside her late husband in the Greenville District Cemetery. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Okla. City. Mrs. Pinkston was born Dec. 21, 1919 in Witcher, OK. She was the youngest daughter of Hardin J. Mace and Allie May Ecker Mace who preceded her in death. Allie May lived most of her life in the community of Witcher. She was a wonderful mother and wife, always proud of her children, her grandchildren and always happy to have the opportunity to tell you about them. She was a good listener, too. She was a sweet woman, filled with lots and lots of love for her family and friends. Most everyone remarked at one time or another ""She has a he art of gold.'' She is survived by her devoted husband, Vandever D. Pinkston of the home in Wellston; a son, Wilbur M. Pinkston of Wellston; 2 daughters, Willa May Williams of Denver, CO and Joanne Engles of Mt. Vernon, MO and 1 step-daughter, Carol Cuff; 10 grandchildren; 2 step-grandsons; 13 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, all of whom loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Glen Smart and Lowell C. Mace. J. H. Pinkston Is Taken By Death.
James H Pinkston, 55, Sapulpa barber for 28 years, died suddenly at 11:45 o'clock yesterday morning of a heart attack. Wednesday evening at closing time, he was bothered with indigestion, but it was not believed to be serious. The heart attack was believed to be brought on by the indigestion. He is survived by the widow, Dessie M. Pinkston, four children, three sons, John, Carrol and Raymond Raymond and one daughter, Hazel Smith, all of this city; three sisters, Minnie Merrick of Seattle, Wash.; Mollie Martin, Picher, Okla., and Effie Harrison, Pasadena, Calif. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon, at the Landrith chapel. Six barbers of this city, yet to be selected, will serve as pallbearers with all other barbers to be honorary pallbearers. Burial will be made in the South Heights cemetery.

DALLAS - Mr. Jerry Linn Pinkston, 22, Dallas, died Sunday in Dallas of natural causes. Services were Tuesday in Dallas. Mr. Pinkston was cremated. He was raised in Sapulpa and attended Sapulpa Public Schools. Survivors include parents Jerry Lee and Sue Pinkston of Dallas, and grandmother Izella Pinkston of Sapulpa.

Lucy Izella Pinkston went to be with the Lord Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2006 at 5:38 a.m. Lucy is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Carroll Edward Pinkston, who passed away May 31, 1981, and one grandchild, Lynn Pinkston. She is survived by: her four children, Carolyn Redfearn and John, of Grove; Jimmy and Barbara Nell Pinkston, of Glenpool; Barbara Ann and Billy Ray Davis, of Sapulpa; and Jerry Lee and Susie Pinkston, of Midland, Texas; six grandchildren, Sandra and Fred Howard; Dianna and Jon Yandell; Laura Nell and Ky Longley; Paula and Jamie Hamilton; Kim and Tim White; and Stephen and April Palmer; 10 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and one on the way. Her service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, 2006 at Green Hill Funeral Home with burial to follow at Green Hill Memorial Gardens with the Rev. John H. Redfearn officiating. The family is requesting donations be made to Green Country Hospice. The family has chosen to entrust the care of the service to the directors at Green Hill Funeral Home.

Seventy Four Years Old, She has Lived With Son 7 Years
Mrs N A Pinkston, died at the home of her son J. H. Pinkston 1006 East Dewey this morning at 6 o'clock. Mrs Pinkston has been bedfast for the past thirty-five days. She would have been 74 years of age August 9. She has made her home with her son J. H. Pinkston of the Park Street Barber shop of this city for the past seven years and has been a resident of Oklahoma for twenty-seven years. Mrs. Pinkston has been a member of the Baptist church for forty five years and her Christian life has meant much in the rearing of her children who survive her.Mr. Pinkston, the husband of the deceased departed this life two years ago and and the only immediate relatives are the following children: J. H. Pinkston of this city, Jess Pinkston of Oklahoma City, Mrs. Annie Clary, Davis, Okla., Mrs. W. M. Derbyshire of this city and Mrs. Mollie Nichols of Purcell, Okla. Funeral services for Mrs. Pinkston will be held tomorrow morning at 10:00 o'clock at the Lewis and Landrith chapel with Rev. J. E. Outlaw of the Second Baptist church officiating. Burial will be made in the South Heights cemetery.

DRIVER CRUSHED BENEATH TRUCK
A man who had been identified by police only as Wilbur Pinkston was pronounced dead on arrival at Capitol Hill General hospital shortly before midnight Saturday from injuries received in an automobile accident at SW 25 and Agnew, when he was crushed beneath a truck. Pinkston was an occupant of a rebuilt 11-year-old sedan equipped with a truck bed. The truck was involved in a headon collision with a sedan driven by Wayne Onstatt, 44, of 2347 SW 44. Onstatt and a woman who had still not been identified by police at midnight were in Oklahoma City General hospital. Two other occupants of the vehicle in which Pinkston was riding were at Capitol Hill General hospital. They were, Elbert E, Howard, 27, of 2701 SW 32, and his wife Tommie, 22. Howard had a severe scalp laceration and a fractured ankle, and his wife was suffering from a broken nose and face lacerations.

Charity Bess "Chari" Waldrop, 89, of Sapulpa, went to be with her Lord Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006. She was born July 31, 1917 in Sapulpa to Fred and Ivalue Teel. Chari graduated from Sapulpa High School and attended Washington University in St. Louis, Mo., receiving her bachelor's degree in music. She was a member of the First Christian Church. She loved to write poems and songs. She enjoyed playing the piano. Chari felt having her family, friends and music made her a very wealthy woman. She is survived by her children, John "Ron" Pinkston and his wife Phyllis, of Sapulpa, and Sheila Reddick, of Allen Texas; grandchildren Terri Frazier, John Pinkston and his wife Michelle, Greg Pinkston and his wife Christy, Lisa Curtius and her husband Mike, Tracy Laeger and her husband Kevin, Autumne Collins and her husband Steve, Shauna Worley and her husband Sean, Erica Galutza and her husband Matt, Andrew Reddick and his wife Angela, Laura Lank and her husband Tanner, and Casey Reddick; and 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2006 at First Christian Church. Serving as pallbearers were John Pinkston, Greg Pinkston, Andrew Reddick, Casey Reddick, Mike Curtius and Sean Worley. The Rev. Gary Radtke will be officiating. Funeral services were under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.
