DEPOSITION
Case of Robert Longley, No. 565,445

On this 2d day of July, 1887 at Philo, county of Muskingum, state of O, before me, G M Miller, a special examiner of the Bureau of Pensions, personally appeared D W Seright, who, being, by me first duly sworn to answer truly all interrogatories propounded to him during this special examination of aforesaid claim for pension, deposes and says:

age 47 years resdience & address is age is above occupation merchant. I have known clt. Robert Longly since he was a boy

I lived about 3 miles of clt prior to the war and saw him often. I never knew or heard test of him being hurt or injuried in any way prior to his army life. I think I saw clt in a few days after his discharge. I was then living in the village of Taylersville clt home to which he came after his discharge & where he has lived ever since

About 10 years agoe, I first knew of my own knowledge that clt was affected in his back and hips he came to me & I fixed somedicine for him or gave him a prescription to get it & he got the medicine & took it & reported that it helped him it was medicine for kidney & he came back and from that time to this he has frequently complained of his back almost in each year I noticed him when he would walk a little lame & seemed to be stiff

A few days after clt got hurt while in the army by a tree falling on him I heard of the accident from his discharge to 10 years ago I often heard of his crippling of his back but knew nothing of it myself till he came to get the medicine that is of my own knowledge. I only heard others say it.

It was said that the tree fell across clt & his brother and I know his brother was badly hurt, his brother is dead.

I am not interested in this claim & not related to clt.

I thoroughly understand & comprehend the questions asked me & my answers to them have been correctly recorded in this deposition.
