Case of Thos. Longley, No. 501,953

On this 22 day of Aug., 1902 at Stockport, county of Morgan, state of Ohio, before me, N.E. Luckey, a special examiner of the Bureau of Pensions, personally appeared Jno R Sheets, who, being, by me first duly sworn to answer truly all interrogatories propounded to him during this special examination of aforesaid claim for pension, deposes and says:

I am 56 years of age, P.O. address as above, no occupation, pensioner.

I was a pvt of Co F 77 Ohio Inf. Nov '61 to Mar '66.

I knew Thos Longley before he enlisted in my company as we were raised in the same village and had always lived in that place or close by up to the time we went to the war. We went to school and played together and were together a great deal before our enlistment.

I don't believe that I ever bunked with him, but we were together in service except when he was home from last of '62 to Feby 64. He went home and staid up to his reenlistment.

Q. Do you recollect any disease or disability wound or injury that Thos Longley had in service.

A. I can't recollect of any disability that he had in service. He was sick at Pittsburg Landing and at Corinth, Miss. he was left back and did not get with us again until after we got to Moscow, Tenn. I don't know what was the matter with him or how he was affected.

After the war he lived at Hooksburg for a year or more and I lived at Stockport and McConnellsville, O. some 5 or 6 miles from him and during that time I seen him most every week. I never heard him complain of any thing after he came out of war. He had been in good health and had had no disease or disability before his enlistment and I never knew of him being sick after his re-enlistement. He was fife major after his re-enlistment.

No, I don't recollect that he hand any diarrhea.
