The Alexander Family

This is Della Mae Alexander as a teenager.

This is Della Mae Alexander in 1919, at 15 years of age. She was the oldest of the family. She loved to garden, crochet, reading and sewing, leaving behind quilts and wonderful doilies. She was a woman of great faith. She loved Eleanor Roosevelt. She spoke about how lucky I was to be a woman in this time (1970's and 1980's). A woman could make her own choices about her life and not be expected to marry and have a family right away. She would have loved to have gone to college or travel and see the world.

She married James Jaynes when she was young, and they celebrated 69 years together before he died. Together they raised 4 children and ran his plumbing business. There was no one that had a bad word to say of her.

She is my connection to the Alexander family. Some of the surnames I am researching in this family are: Adkins/Atkins, Alexander, Allman, Barr, Baughman, Bebout, Bobman, Bohall, Cockerham, Cramer, Dover, Draper, Faulk/Bulk, Fish, Glatfelter, Hoffman, Hogg/Hoke, Hovis, Hoyl, Kepley, Lane, Lucus, Martin, McWhorter, Milstead, Northern, and Stilwell.
