Obituary:
THE NEWARK (OH) ADVOCATE, 18 January 1904

                              Johnathan Hatcher
Zanesville, D (sic)., Jan. 18 -  The venerable Jonathan Hatcher, founder of the coffin making business in Zanesville, and one of the best men that ever lived in this city, died Sunday afternoon at his home on Third avenue, Columbus, with ailments which came with his extreme age, 93 years.
Jonathan Hatcher was born in Virginia 93 years ago and came to Ohio in 1820, settling at Fultonham.  Later he went to New Lexington, and in 1866, he removed from that town to Zanesville, where he established the Hatcher coffin works on the canal bank in the building now occupied by the Zanesville Mantle and Furniture factory.  The funeral obsequies will occur at Columbus Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock and interment will be made in Greenlawn, beside the body of his wife.
