Louisa J (presume Jane) lived 30 years, 4 months, 8 days. This would have made her birth March 12, 1864. She died of tuberculosis, according to family tradition. Mary Jane was 2 years old when Louisa died. Isaac didn't remarry but lived with his mother, Mary Morgan Steel Alley, who helped raise his children after Louisa died.
Aunt Jessie, per Hennen's Choice (Dorothy T. Hennen) was the first female to graduate from the Pine Grove School. She attended West Virginia Wesleyan College, studying piano, for a short time but returned to Pine Grove to help care for her father and her family.

Uncle Joe died two years after Dorothy Hennen's books were published. Dorothy Hennen credits him with providing information about the Alley family for the book.
