My actual home page: The Cheap Pages

Each county map here is from the Dennis Griffith map of Maryland in the Library of Congress Map Collection... it's an amazing and beautiful piece of workmanship for its day.

The inline maps on each page are JPEGs approximately 250K in size. There is also a link to a second version of the same map. This second map is bigger when printed out and has also been only slightly compressed.

...it's probably a good idea to use your browser's "Download Link to Disk" command on this second link as these files are 1-2MB in size.

Symbols on the Map

Griffith used these symbols on his map to show features such as mills and taverns.

Maryland Counties:

  Kent & Cecil

  Queen Anne's & Talbot

  Caroline & Dorchester

  Somerset and Worcester
  appear online here.
