In 2000 she moved to the Kansas City area to be closer to family. Bea was a fiercely independent and endlessly energetic woman, generous of her time with family, friends, and her Circle at Boston Avenue Methodist Church. Known to all as "Aunt Bea" she was a gregarious, fun loving lady, who enjoyed dancing, playing cards, gardening, family activities, and helping others. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Upton of 56 years; and her 4 brothers; and 1 sister. She is survived by: her son, J. Upton, Jr. of Pittsburgh, PA; daughter, Marcia Hudson Deeter and husband, Kirby of Leawood, KS; beloved grand- children: Hope Hudson-Pollack, Kristin Deeter Steel, Lydia Hudson Skardon, Hudson Deeter and 7 great-grand children. Service will be held at 11 a.m., on Thursday, April 17th, at Stanleys Funeral Service, 3959 E. 31st Street, Tulsa, OK 74135. The family will receive friends at 10 a.m., preceding the ceremony. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to the Choir Fund, Boston Avenue United Methodist Church, 1301 So. Boston Ave, Tulsa, OK 74119.
