Rector or Deerfield, Kan; and L.J. Rector of Lockhart, Minn. Mr. Rector farmed until about 20 years ago, when he moved to town. He was a member of the modern Woodmen and of the Cuba Masonic Lodge. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Smithfield with Rev. Ralph Dean officiating. Burial was in Baughman Cemetery.

A former teacher in the Kellogg School, Mrs. Baughman left Canton in 1929, moving to Kewanee where she operated a beauty shop. She was a graduate of Western State college, Macomb. She was a member of the Kewanee First Methodist Church, and of the Order of Eastern Star. Besides her husband, Mrs. Mary Ruth Doye of Bradford and two grandchildren; a sister Mrs. Robert (Jessie) Ewan, Bushnell; and a brother, Russell F. Rector of Smithfield. Lena was a very caring person who often came back to Smithfield to help care for her parent in their old age. When her mother was seriously ill, she was moved to a Kewanee nursing home where Lena could be close enough to be able to help care for her. Her funeral was held at the Kewanee First Methodist Church with burial in Pleasant View Cemetery.1
