Bishop of Batavia, Ill; one daughter, Katherine Burke of Dekalb, Ill; one brother, Verne Bishop of Omaha; and three sisters, Charlene Martin of Bellevue, Wash., Amelia Menke of Red Oak and Agnes Hannafin of Buena Park Calif.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Shawnee Park Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) building fund. His body was bequeathed to the University of Kansas Medical Center. Mr. Bishop died Monday (Jan. 3, 2000) at the Shawnee Mission Medical Center.
     He was born in Jan. 31, 1910, in Elliott, IA. He graduated from Coburg High School and then attended Iowa State College in Ames. He engaged in farming and later was employed with the Iowa Farm Bureau co. He also was employed with Peterson Sheep and Cattle company in Des Moines. He was regional director for Federal Crop Insurance (USDA) in Illinois, Iowa, California and Arizona. He moved to Kansas City in 1978. He was a member of the Shanwee Park Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where he was Elder Emeritus.
     He was preceded in death by his father, William Rassner Bishop, and his mother, Cassie Ann Fate bishop; three brothers, Robert, Merrill and Forrest Bishop; and his first wife, Mariam E. Smith.
     Survivors include his wife, Genevieve Conner Bishop of the home; two sisters, Ila Mae King of Vista, CA, and Lyra Peterson of Red Oak; one brother, Byron Bishop and his wife, Barbara, of Worthington, MN; sister-in-law, Violet Bishop of Modesto, CA; children, Malcom J. Bishop and his wife, Janet, of Atlantic, David D. Bishop and his wife, Carolyn, of Tavares, FL, Ann A. Bishop Rhode and her husband, John, of Berkley, CA; five grandchildren, Michael J. Bishop, Jon C. Bishop, both of Atlantic, Susan E. Bishop Soma of Dunlap, Jennifer A. Rhone of New York, NY, and Jeffrey Rhode and his wife, Nada, of San Francisco, CA; several nieces and nephews.

     Lyra Francis Bishop was born on 6 July 1917 at Pilot Grove Twp., Montgomery County, Iowa.³ She was the daughter of William Rassner Bishop and Cassie Ann Fate.² Lyra Francis Bishop married Donald Peterson on 21 June 1939 at Red Oak, Montgomery County, Iowa. Lyra Francis Bishop died on 16 March 2006 at Red Oak, Montgomery County, Iowa, at age 88; Lyra F. Peterson, age 88, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Thursday, March 16, 2006 at the Greater Community Hospital in Creston, Iowa. Lyra Frances Peterson was born July 6, 1917 in Pilot Grove Township of Montgomery County, Iowa the daughter of William Rasner and Cassie Ann “Kate” (Fate) Bishop. When Lyra was five years old the family moved to Coburg where Lyra graduated High School in 1935. She worked at the JC Penney Store before her marriage to Donald Peterson on June 21, 1939 in Red Oak, Iowa. They lived and farmed all of their lives in Montgomery County, Iowa. They moved into Red Oak in 1974. Donald preceded Lyra in death on December 27, 1993. Lyra moved to Creston, Iowa in 2005 to be near her daughter Barb. Lyra was very active in the First Christian Church in Red Oak where she was a Sunday school teacher, deaconess, bible study leader, and a faithful member. She was a member of the Republican Women, Christian Women, Farm Bureau Women, Farm Bureau Homemaker of the Year for 1970, 4-H supporter for many years, Monday Club, and the Rebekah Lodge. She loved to cook, sew, bake, and make mints.

Survivors include her three daughters: Charlene Helm and husband Clarence of Evanston, WY; LaDonna Figley and husband Ray of Lees Summit, MO; and Barb Wilmeth and husband Dave of Creston, IA; son: Art Peterson of Red Oak, IA; special “daughter”: Mary Jones and husband Bob of Red Oak, IA; grandchildren: Colleen Dawson and husband Kent of Bellevue, NE; Cady Tebedow of LaVista, NE; Chris Helm and wife Shelley of LaVista, NE; Jeff Bullington of Lawrence, KS; Greg Bullington and wife Danna of Cheyenne, WY; Trent Figley and wife Michelle of Pleasantville, MO; Jeff Figley and wife Heather of Independence, MO; Eric Figley and wife Heather of Independence, MO; John Peterson Whitmyre of Omaha, NE; and Cassie, Maggie, and Emily Wilmeth all of Creston, IA; 13 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; brother: Byron Bishop of Worthington, MN; five sisters-in-law: Violet Bishop of Modesto, CA; Genevieve Bishop of Merriam, KS; Mary Helen Peterson of Elliott, IA; Jean Kerr of Griswold, IA; and Marilyn Limke and husband Gerald of Des Moines, IA; two brothers-in-law: Kenneth Peterson of Elliott, IA; and Jim Franklin of Omaha, NE; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held 2 PM Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. JoAnn Thomas officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will take place at a later date. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Monday, March 20, 2006 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church or the Monday Club.

     He John Frederick Bonebrake was a farmer all of his life. He lived in the Melrose area near Roseburg after moving from his father's home in Dixonville. He taught Sunday School classes every week at the Melrose Community Church. After retiring from the actual running of his farm, he was involved with the Agricultural Soil Conservation Society. He loved camping and fishing. Each summer they had a family camping trip to Watson Falls on the North Umpqua River. This trip always included his children and grandchildren. John Frederick Bonebrake was a very devoted family man and was highly respected in the community.³

     Robert Raymond Bonebreak was born on 4 December 1916 at Roseburg, Douglas County, Oregon.¹ He was the son of John Frederick Bonebreak and Mildred Hazel Fate.¹ Robert Raymond Bonebreak died on 25 March 1985 at San Francisco, San Francisco County, California, at age 68.
