Daniel Fay b: 7/6/1816 d: 12/26/1901
+Rachel Preston b: 1812 m: 2/13/1843 d: between 1860 and 1870
Daniel took his family from Chester, MA, to Winona, MN between 1850 and 1860. Rachel died in MN before 1870. Daniel married Marion Garish, a widow with children, about 1872; Daniel and Marion are listed in the census of 1880, with her 12 year old daughter and 9 year old son. The two are together in Minnesota in 1900. After Danie's death, Marion went to Washington and is listed with her daughter and son in law in Washington. She is thought to have died there in 1932.
It is possible that Daniel married another woman between Rachel and Marion. According to Ronald Dugan, he married Talitha Philena Preston, the widow of Robert Stanley, on July 5, 1866. In that case, she must have died very soon after their marriage.
........8  Eugene Preston Fay b: 8/10/1844
Eugene is listed in the census of 1860 with his family; he is 15 at the time of the census. He turned 18 on August 10, 1862. On August 15, 1862, Eugene Fay, age 18, enlisted as a private in the Union Army and was assigned to Company D, 7th Infantry Regiment Minnesota. It is probable that this is the same person. Private Eugene Fay died of disease on February 5, 1865, in Nashville, TN, and is buried in the Nashville National Cemetery.

Between 1880 and 1900, this branch of the family moved from Winona, MN, to Inman, Holt County, Nebraska, where they remained. Albert died between 1910 and 1920, and Hellen between 1920 and 1930 (exact dates learned later). Hellen's name is also spelled Helen, but the birth record gives "Hellen".

Arthur remained with his father through 1870, when he and his father are listed as boarders in Minnesota. Some time after that, and before 1874, Arthur returned to Chester, MA, where he was born; he married there in 1874 and his two sons were born there. By 1900, he and his family have moved to Pennsylvania. Arthur seems to have died before 1910, for by 1920 Anna and Earnest seem to be the only ones of the family still in Pennsylvania. It is not known what happened to Leon after 1910.
