William Lake 1773 - 1840
William's first wife, Lucy Mathews, died two weeks after giving birth to David in 1804. He then married Lucy's sister, Elizabeth Mathews. He was one of the founders of the Methodist church in Hooosick N.Y. in 1811. In 1821, they moved to Granby N.Y., where William became the Minister of the Bowen's Corner Methodist Church. He and Elizabeth had several children. William died in 1840 and is buried in Granby. Buried next to him is his Mother-in-law, Lucy Fay Mathews, who died in 1839.
Lucy Mathews 1783 - 1804
Lucy was the daughter of David Mathews and Lucy Fay. She was born in Shaftsbury, Vermont. She died when David was born and is buried in the family cemetery at Walloomsac, Hoosick, N.Y.
David Mathew Lake - Alida Douglass
David Mathew Lake was born June 6, 1804, to William Lake and Lucy Mathews, at Hoosick, New York, on the Vermont border. Lucy Mathews Lake died two weeks after David's birth. She is buried in the family cemetery next to her father David Mathews, her grandmother Mary Mathews, and several sisters.
According to land records, William Lake moved to Granby N.Y. in 1821. David Lake is on the 1830 census in Baldwinsville N.Y. with his wife and sons.
I have not yet found a marriage record for Alida and David. In 1837 they moved to Ontario, where David and Peter Stickles bought the Stone Mills in Glenora. The Mill is on the Bay of Quinte. After selling the Mills, David and Alida moved to Milford to a farm. Their son David died there at age 21.
David Lake died in 1875 and Alida moved to Bellville to live with her son John and his wife, Rhoda.
William was living in Picton.
