Laura was born October 17, 1923 in Puyallup, Washington and died in Huntington Park Care Center in Papillion, Nebraska on February 21, 2008 at the age of 84. She was the youngest child of Charles Ward Fay and Ella A. Tessman Fay. Older brothers and sisters were Claude C., Orlin B., Florence Mary, and Ethel Anne. Laura was born 20 years after Ethel so she really was the baby! As a young girl she lived in Washington, Oregon, Ohio, New York and Montana, moving with her parents as they would improve a place and move on. As a young woman she cooked on a ranch near Bozeman and loved going to dances where she met her first husband John R. Dobson. They were married September 25, 1941 in Billings, Montana. They divorced March 28, 1944, shortly before the birth of a daughter, Mary Kay (b. 5-2-1944). Mary Kay was adopted by Laura's older brother Orlin and his wife Mary and spent her life in Oregon. Laura worked at the Spokane (WA) Aircraft Depot during World War II. At this time she met William (Bill) M. Peters and they were married in Spokane on December 5, 1944. After the war they returned to Bill's home state of Michigan where their two children were born in Saginaw: Marlet William (b. 07-01-1952) and Ann Frances (b. 12-16-1956 d. 12-6-2003). Bill worked for Saginaw Gear. Laura was a homemaker, active as a volunteer in the school, Girl Scouts, and at the St Luke's (Covenant Cooper) hospital for several years prior to moving to Georgia to be near her daughter Ann in 1998 due to failing health. In 2001 they moved to Nebraska, where Laura made her home at Huntington Park. While there, Laura crocheted many lap robes for donation to the VA hospital in Omaha, crocheting up until the last year of her life. Laura and her daughter were avid steamboat cruisers traveling many times on the American Queen. She loved to go shopping but she was always frugal and would never spend much but she didn't want to come back empty handed. She was a lover of anything having to do with butterflies and they decorated her room, bedding and clothing. She also loved being outdoors. Laura was a lovely person and polite into her final days. She was an honorary "mom" to many of her children's friends and neighbors. After her daughter Ann died she was visited every day by her son-in-law who assisted Laura with her walks.

She is survived by her son, Marlet Peters of St. Petersburg, FL; daughter, Mary Kay Fay of Eugene Oregon; grandson & wife, Chris & Valerie Billau and great-grandson, Ethan John Billau of Columbus, MS; brother-in-law, James Peters; son-in-law. and wife Rick and Joanne Stone of Papillion, NE; special friends who corresponded faithfully, Pat and Jerry Schrank, Lois Porter, Lillian Smokoska all of Saginaw, and Carolyn Miller of Orlando, FL.

Funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 26, 2008, at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 409 Adams Street, Saginaw, Michigan, where friends may call from 4:00 � 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Rev. Aaron Wilson will officiate with burial in Oakwood Cemetery in Saginaw.
