Testimony of Realto E. Price

State of Iowa
Clayton County
I Realto E. Price being duly sworn on Oath do depose and say that I am 56 years old and was born in Clayton Co Iowa and have all ways resided in said County --- That I became acquainted with Amanda C. Fay and her husband Daniel M. Fay late of Co "I" of 27th Reg Inft some time about 1862 or 1863. It might have been as early as 1861 -- and know that they had a family of children and lived together as husband and wife prior to the war of 1861 and after the war was ended. I know that he Fay abandoned and deserted his wife Amanda C. Fay, don't remember the year but think he deserted her about 1870 -- After leaving his wife I learned that he Fay committed the Crime of Adultery and that he served a term of one year in the Penitentiary in this state of Iowa. I have practiced law in the County of Clayton Iowa for 34 years and know he has never been divorced from Amanda C. Fay in our County. I am quite certain that if either party had been granted a divorce I would have known it. That I have no interest direct or indirect in this claim for pension. My P.O. is Elkader Iowa.
