Military; Joined the Navy September 1948 and served till September 1952, the highlights of my time in the Navy is when the first ship I served on the U.S.S. Benevolence AH 13 on my first day at sea  August 25th 1950 was returning from trial runs and collided with the S.S.Mary Lukenbach and sunk in fifteen minutes with the loss of twenty three men. I later served on board the U.S.S. Haven AH-12 in Korea for a year, I returned to the states and was re-assigned to the U.S.S. Albany CA-123 where I served until I was discharged at Norfolk,Va. as HM3 September 1952.

Occupation; Worked for the P.R.R. for three years when I returned home, then at General Motors for two years. 1957 started a four year Carpenters apprenticeship returned to night school in 1962 earned an associate degree in civil engineering and worked in heavy construction until I retired as a construction superintendent in February 1991.

Marital; I got married in 1953 and moved to Wilmington, Del. where I lived till my wife passed away in 1959, I then returned to Ridley Park. I remarried  in 1961 and moved to Glenolden, my second wife passed away in 1978, I remarried in 1979 to my  current wife and remained in Glenolden until I built my present home in Monterey, Va., in 1988, 
I have five children, eight grand children and one great grand child 
I commuted to Phila. weekly till I retired in 1991.
  Organizations; I became active in Amvets in 1968, and served as Post Commander of Post 118 Morton for three terms was elected as State Commander in 1977, was appointed twice by Gov. Milton Shappe to serve on the Pa. State Veterans Commission, Served one term as President of the Pa. War Veterans Council and was elected to serve as the National Inspector General of Amvets, in 1985 I stepped down an became less active, I am a life member of  Amvets.
