He was born May 16, 1819 in Buncombe Co., North Carolina, and died February 21, 1895 in Hamburg, Fremont, IA. Notes for SARAH EDWARDS: Transcribed by Bobby D. Died - Taylor. Of Pneumonia, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. R. F. Nix, on Monday, April 5th, at 4 p.m., Mrs. Sarah Taylor, aged 79 years and 7 months. Sarah Edwards was born in Grayson county, VA., Sept. 4th, 1818 and in July of 1838 was married to Lewis Taylor. From Virginia they moved to North Carolina where they lived nine years, thence to Fremont county where they settled on a homestead six miles west of Hamburg and for thirty-eight years this was their home. After the death of her husband two years ago Mrs Taylor came to this city to reside with her daughter. She was a consistent member of the M. E. Church, South from her early youth. Five children survive her, Mrs. Elizabeth Brown, of Nebr., Mrs R. F. Nix, of Hamburg, Mrs Nettie Davis, of Blenco, Ia., George Taylor, of Hamburg and Elbert Taylor, of Nebraska. She is at rest after long years of unselfishness. Having endured the hardships of pioneer life, she ministered faithfully unto her family, doing whatsoever her hands found to do, loved her neighbor as herself and was greatly respected by all who knew her. She passed her last days tenderly cared for by her children. When the end came, she was conscious and her last words were "Do not grieve for me." Children, grand-children and great-grand-children, relatives and friends, while they mourn her loss know that she had lived more than the allotted time and weary of life she sleeps well "far from mortal pain and strife."

Where she has gone No evening shadows linger cold and gray, No winds of winter chill the summer day, A fadeless springtime blooms upon the way Where she has gone. Where she has gone Her saintly presence blesses mansions fair Glory gleams about the head so dear And thy poor hearts will find their rest up there Where she has gone . Card of Thanks :We desire to express our most sincere and heartfelt thanks to our kind friends for their many acts of kindness during the illness and death of our mother and grandmother. R. F. NIX AND FAMILY . More About SARAH EDWARDS: Burial: Hamburg Cemetery,Hamburg, IA
