The Finch family I am descended from came here with the Winthrop Fleet of 1630.
DANIEL FINCH was born about 1585, in England.
He immigrated with his brother John in the fleet with Governor John Winthrop, who arrived the 22nd
of June, 1630, with eleven ships. No record is found of Daniel's first wife and it is probable that she died
in England. Daniel reached the Watertown Colony of New England in 1630. Records show that he served on
a jury in 1631 at Boston and was appointed a commissioner to the estate of Mr Crispe and his company. Daniel was among
those who left Watertown, MA., and with others formed the Colony of Wetherfield, Connecticut in 1634. Daniel was
constable there in 1636.
In 1641, he, with others, went with the Reverend Richard Denton to settle the plantation
of Stanford, Connecticut, and was one of the original proprietors. He removed there in 1642. A prenuptial agreement
was made between and Elizabeth Thompson, widow of John Thompson, Fairfield, CT, 25 Dec 1657. They married soon afterward.
She died before 18 May 1658. , and Daniel married (third) 04 Apr 1660, Mary, the widow of Thomas Dickerson.
Daniel died in Fairfield, Connecticut March 1667, aged 82 years, and his Will, dated 05 Mar
