JOHN BLAUERT, 71
John "Jack" Arthur Blauert, a lifetime resident of Merced, died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was 71.
Mr. Blauert was born March 10, 1925, in Merced and Graduated from Merced High School in 1943.
He was employed by Gastel Motors in the parts department for several years before going to work for the Merced County Public Works Division.
He worked with equipment and in the maintenance shop before his retirement in 1991.
According to his family, he enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Mr. Blauert is survived by his wife, Helen Blauert of Merced; a son, Jim Blauert of Merced; two sisters, Mabel Wais of Placerville and Betty McGilbary of Rogers, Ark.; a brother, Don Blauert of Merced and one step grandchild.
Visitation is today from Noon to 7 p.m. at Stratford Evans Merced Chapel.
Funeral services will be Friday at 1 p. m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.

HELEN ROGINA AND JACK BLAUERT REPEAT MARRIAGE VOWS SUNDAY
A four o’clock on Sunday afternoon, April 3, Jack Blauert claimed Helen Rogina for his bride. The ceremony was solemnized by the Reverend Father C. V. Higgins before the flowerdecked altar of St. Anthony’s Church in Atwater.
Jack Rogina gave the hand of his sister in marriage, and the bride had a trio of feminine attendants precede her down the aisle.
For her wedding, Helen chose a gown of white satin, fashioned with net yoke, fitted bodice, long sleeves, and the skirt fell into a full train a halo cap outlined in orange blossoms held the bride’s fingertip-length veil, and she carried a prayerbook marked with orchids and bouvardia.
Helen asked her sister, Elsie, to be her maid of honor, Thelma Fragulia to be bridesmaid, and small Donna Lee Blaurert, niece of the benedict, had the role of flower girl.
All were gowned alike in dusty rose taffeta, with flower headbands and matching French bouquets; for the honor attendant it was white rosebuds, the bridesmaids had carnations and the flower girl rose petals.
Jack asked his cousin, Phil Roduner to be his best man and his brother, Donald, and Ralph Navarro showed the guests to their seats. Jack Chapman was also a groomsman. At the organ for the ceremony was Kathryn McMurry.
After the ceremony the just-weds received the felicitations of their family and friends at a reception at the Merced Women’s Clubhouse. There they cut their wedding cake, which was served by Mrs. Ralph Navarro and Mrs. John Baccaris, with the guests helped to the punch by the Misses Cecilia Goni, Maxine Goni, Ida Beluardo and Eleanor Canepa. Miss Catherine Gracco officiated at the guest book.
The new Mrs. Blauert is a daughter of Mrs. Antonia Rogina, and is a graduate of Merced schools.
Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Blauert are the parents of the benedict, who also graduated from local schools, and from the Curtis-Wright institute at Glendale.
For the occasion Mrs. Rogina wore a rose dress with grey accessories, with Mrs. Blauert in a dark pint with black accessories, and both had orchid corsages.
The couple will be at home at 26 Eighteenth Street upon their return from a wedding trip to the Lake Tahoe area.

Helen Blauert, 87, a long time resident of Merced, California, passed away on February 10,2009. She was born on August 4, 1921, to John and Antonia Rogina in Madera, California.
Visitation will be held Monday, February 16, 2009 from 4:00-7:00 PM at Whitton Family Funeral Service. A Rosary will be said Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at 9:30 AM at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Merced, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to Whitton Family Funeral Service in Merced.

Helen Rogina Blauert was born to parents Antonia and John Rogina on August 4, 1921, in Madera, CA. She passed away unexpectedly on February 10, 2009, at the age of 87 years in Merced, CA.
Helen's family moved to Merced when she was a young girl. She attended local schools in Merced, and graduated from Merced High School in 1940. As a young woman, she took business courses in bookkeeping, and began work in San Francisco. She eventually moved back to Merced, and worked at Castle Air Force Base during World War II. She married John A. Blauert on April 3, 1949, moving to Fresno, CA and then back to Merced, CA.
She especially enjoyed her role as homemaker, wife, and mother, making this her priority. Anyone who passed by her will manicured home would know that she had a green thumb. Every spring you would find her out in her garden, puttering about tending to her flowers, and plants. When you entered her home, it was always the most inviting atmosphere anyone could imagine. She was always cooking, and of course any person who entered her home would be well fed. She enjoyed cooking for everyone, especially during the holidays.
Helen worked for City Hall in the Finance Department for 26 years. In her retirement years you would find her going to her Manjia Manjia Club, of on an outing with her numerous friends and neighbors. She also was an active member of the Italian Catholic Federation.
Helen is survived by her son, James Blauert (Mary) her granddaughter Amanda (Raymond) Thompson, and her most recent pride and joy, her great grandson, Tyler Eaton. She is also survived a loving extended family consisting of numerous nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews who always dropped by to visit. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She is preceded death by her husband John A. Blauert, her brothers Jack Rogina and Joey Rogina; her sisters, Viola Navarro, Angie Nonsenzo, and Elsie Chapman.
A viewing will be held Monday, February 16, 2009 from 4:00-7:00 PM at Whitton Family Funeral Service. A recitation of the Rosary will take place Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at 9:30 AM at St. Patrick's Church followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Internment will be at Evergreen Memorial Park. A celebration of Helen's life will follow at St. Patrick's Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, her family requests donations be made to Merced Rescue Mission.
