ARTHUR, Robert. Lot in Hornitos, lot nine, block three, valued at 25 dollars; improvements, 175 dollars; personal property, 489 dollars. Total, 680 dollars. Total tax, 20 dollars and 35 cents. Collector's costs, one dollar and fifty cents.

Mariposa Gazette, December 17, 1898:
After a long, lingering illness Robert Arthur, one of Hornitos' pioneer citizens, last Sunday evening peacefully passed away at his home in the town, where he had spent the best part of his life.
Robert Arthur was a good citizen. He was a blacksmith by trade and for years followed his vocation in the town of Hornitos. during the last few years he gave place to his sons, Charley and Jim, who carry on the business of the father.
The deceased at the time of his death was about 68 years of age. he was married and leaves a wife and a large family to mourn the death of a loving husband and father.
The funeral took place on Tuesday for his late residence to Hornitos.

Mariposa Gazette, Sept. 15, 1917: PIONEER HORNITOS LADY BURIED ON SUNDAY
Funeral services were held in Hornitos Sunday afternoon for the late Mrs. Belle Arthur, who died late Friday night at the Merced ranch home of her daughter Mrs. J. A. Roduner where she had made her home since two years ago. Deceased was a native of Ohio and was 79 years of age. Death was due to paralysis. Mrs. Arthur was a pioneer of Hornitos where she live for many years. Her husband Robert Arthur, died about ten years ago. Surviving are five daughters and three sons as follows: Mrs. J. A. Roduner, Merced; Mrs P. J. Wolfsen, Merced; Mrs. Thirsa Hunt, Lodi: Mrs. Wm. Ten Eyck, Hayward; Mrs Charles Pearson, , Mt. Bullion; James, Charles and William Arthur, Hornitos. --Merced Sun.
