Notes on Jesus Vicente (Joseph) Castro88
He was born in Spain. Where he was educated by Catholic priests. He left Spain and went to Cuba. From Cuba he went to the United States. He went to Redding, CA. Shasta Co. where he worked in the mine as a superintendent for Mr. Beckwith. He met and married Mary "May" Castagnetto who was working in Redding, CA. They lived at the mine. Their first child Joseph Daniel was born April 5, 1914. In 1915 with Mary "May" expecting their second child, they rode horse back from the mine to Redding, CA. where May Louise was born the next day. The mine was closing and Joseph and family were asked to move to Mexico and work for the mining company. May was ill and doctors couldn't seem to help her. Joseph took her and family to Spain to doctors. While there May Louise was badly burned and could not leave so Joseph left the family in Spain so he could get back to start his job in Mexico. "May", their two children, and Joseph's sister Maria, followed when Louise was well enough to travel. They lived in Pachuca, Mexico where their third child, Dorothy Antonio, was born. They left Mexico where Joseph worked for the Ford Car Factory. Then May and children left for Redding. Joseph went back to Mexico and the mines. May and Joseph were divorced. After high school graduation son Joseph Daniel joined his dad in Mexico City to attend the university of Mexico. Joseph died in 1945.
