Mariposa Gazette: Funeral Rites for Frank Castagnetto Held Friday
Funeral rites were conducted at the Tiscornia, Ivers and Alcorn chapel in Mariposa on Wednesday afternoon for Frank D. Castagnetto, 55, a native of Hunter’s Valley in Mariposa county, who died suddenly at his home in San Francisco Saturday, from a heart attack. The services were conducted by Rev. W. A. Cash of Merced under the auspices of the Odd Fellows lodge of which he had been a member for many years. Interment followed in the Odd Fellows cemetery at Mariposa. The pall bearers were T.B. Fournier, Alex Meagher, John Guest, Frank Maschio, John Dulcich and Louis Milburn, all former close friends of the deceased. He was a member of Alta Lodge ‘05 of San Francisco.
A son of early Hunter’s Valley pioneers, Frank Castagnetto attended the public schools there and spent most of his early life in this county. Twenty-five years ago he went to San Francisco and had made his home in that city up until his death.
He had been employed by the California Street Railway system for 22 years and was a responsible and trusted employee.
On the day of his death he was preparing for a vacation and the excitement in preparing for the outing may have hastened his death.
It was at his own request that he was laid to rest in the Mariposa hills which he loved and where he always returned to visit whenever the opportunity came.
Surviving are his brother, John J. Castagnetto, Sheriff of Mariposa, his sister, Mrs. Walter R. Castagnetto of San Francisco and many other close relatives in this and other counties of the state.
