Native of Hornitos Called By Death At Merced Hospital
Funeral services were held Thursday morning at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Merced for Mrs. Irma Lord Cronkite, age 42 years, who died at Merced on January 2nd following a week's illness.
Mrs. Cronkite was born February 12, 1889, near Hornitos, Mariposa County, and spent her early life there, moving to Merced several years ago. She received her education in the local schools and trained for nursing in the Burnett sanitarium in Fresno. She was employed as a nurse in the office of Dr. W. E. Lilley and had also been engaged in private nursing. She was married to H. C. Cronkite, a Merced contractor, eight years ago.
Interment was made in the Evergreen Mausoleum at Mariposa.
Surviving are the husband, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Lord, and a brother, Stanley Lord, all of Merced.

WIFE OF MERCED CONTRACTOR DIES
MERCED, Jan 5
Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Merced at 10 o’clock Thursday morning for Mrs. Emma (sic) Catherine Cronkite, who died at the Merced Hospital her Tuesday following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Cronkite was a native Merced and had spent her entire life here. At the time of her death she was 42 years old.
The husband, Hugh C. Cronkite, a local contractor, and one daughter, Jacqueline Cronkite, 4, survive. Mrs. Cronkite also leaves her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Lord of Merced and Mrs. J. C. Drake of Herman, and one brother, Stanley S. Lord of Oroville.
