Thomas Stafford (1605-1677) was the son of Roger Stafford of Warwickshire, England. He emigrated to Plymouth in 1626 and settled at Providence, R.I. His brother William went to Virginia in 1622. He was the father of six children. His son Samuel (1635-1718) married Mercy Wescott and they were the parents of nine children. They died at Warwick, Kent Co., R.I. A descendant, Jacob David Stafford (1812-1861) was the son of Solomon Stafford and Anna Thompson of Brighton, Maine. He married Roxanna Starbird, the daughter of John Starbird. Jacob died in Hancock Co., Illinois and Roxanna died at David City, Butler Co., Nebraska.
