Notes for Samuel HARBISON
Samuel HARBISON was enumerated as head-of-household on the 1810 Henry Co., KY census.

Morgan Co.,AL. Orphan's Court Vol.32, page 60

Kentucky in the War of 1812
The fifth brigade, commanded by Brigadier General Samuel Caldwell of Logan Co. composed of the ninth and tenth regiments. The ninth regiment was commanded by Col. James Sumrall of Shelby Co. and was composed of the company of Capt. John Hall, James S. Whittaker and Samuel Harbison of Shelby Co.

Transcribed from material supplied by Theron Smith:
Samuel Harbison, son of Alexander (I), although in Henry Co. Ky. in 1810, does not appear to be associated with the other Harbisons of KY. who were of Botetourt Co., Va. Since his wife was born in NC, that may also been his state of birth. Also, his oldest son was named Matthew and was married on 8 Nov 1820 in Maury Co., Tn. Samuel’s grandson, Robert Harbison, was in Lincoln Co., Tn. in 1860. Lincoln CO. was the place of residence of Alexander (II) Harbison and two of his sons until the 1850s. These circumstances of geographical location have lead to Samuel’s being placed tentatively as a son of Alexander (I) of Burke Co. Samuel must have been born about 1770. He was married about 1797, probably in Ky. to Nancy _____ (perhaps Nancy Hill). He was enumerated in Henry Co., Ky. in 1810 (21010-30200). As already noted, the family was in Maury County, Tn. by 1820 and Samuel died in Morgan Co., Ala. in 1821. His descendants spread into Hancock (later Winston) and Cullman Cos., Ala. Some of his descendants have been traced by Barbara (Mrs. T.K.) Harrell of Utopia, Texas. Samuel had nine children.

Father possibly Benjamin Harbison from (born in) Pennysylvania241

The following list might help in deciding whether DNA testing or additional conventional research would be profitable in specific Harbison research projects. I'm surprised I didn't compile a list like this several years ago.
HENRY,SHELBY,WOODFORD Cos.
Several years ago, I placed one Samuel Harbison BY HYPOTHESIS as a son of Alexander Harbison of Burke Co., NC and hence closely related to the Harbisons of Maury/Lincoln Co., TN. This Samuel was in Maury Co., TN when his oldest son, Matthew, married Zilpha Babb on 8 Nov 1820 and he died 1821 in Catoco Co. [now Morgan], AL in 1821. Several descendants of Samuel were found in Morgan Co., AL from 1830 on. Son Matthew was in Carroll Co., TN by 1830 - later found in Fayette Co., TN and Independence Co., AR.
Samuel's children are shown b. in KY and he is probably the Samuel on the 1810 Henry Co., KY [21010-30200] census just north of Shelby Co. So I may have assigned him to the wrong Harbison group during my earlier research several years ago. DNA testing in this line would definitely contribute to proper placement of Samuel.
