Notes for Joseph FITCHETT
Joseph, son James and Elizabeth Fitchett baptised in Fredericksburgh on Nov 24, 1798.30

Joseph left Fredericksburg and went to Marmora when he got his 200 acre grant of land as an S.U.E. (son of an empire loyalist) in 1822.149

Joseph, son the Loyalist James Fitchett, received his O.C. on March 6, 1822 in Marmora township, Hastings County, west half of lot 3 and r, concession 9. He must have moved to this property soon after receiving it for we find he was well established in Hastings county by 1828 when he married Wealthy Bond. This union took place at the Anglican Church in Marmora, Ontario with James Crawford and Francis McAnnary as witnesses.25

Notes for Mary (Spouse 2)
Mary McEvilley who was an illiterate Irish immigrant and a Roman Catholic. He then had six more children, starting with my grandfather, Joseph, who was born in 1856. These children were raised Catholic. From census material, it appears they stayed in the Marmora area, and in the 1901 census, my grandfather, Joseph (1856) is still living on 65 acres of the original grant with his family and next door is his mother Mary living with one of her other sons, William.149
