An orchard farmer for all of his life, he operated many acres of varied fruits, as well as having holdings of grain acreage. In partnership with his brother and sister, they operated as [page 458] Chadbourne Bros until some time after his brother's death, at which time the property was divided. Much of the property belonging to Fred was developed as a business park. Fred was of medium stature, with dark hair and blue eyes, physically strong, with a quiet demeanor, and a fine twinkle in his eyes.
