Rut was of medium height with dark hair and complexion and brown eyes, a great sense of humor and integrity, was most gregarious, and very strong physically. An orchardist, he actively worked with his brother Fred in the operation of Chadbourne Bros until he was diagnosed with a serious heart condition. For his health, he lived the last nine years of his life at Cobb Mt, Lake Co, CA. After his death, his wife Alice actively operated his orchards and grazing properties.
