OBIT: Mr. Jewettie Stephens
Mr. Jewettie Benjamin Stephens, 3090 Pope Rd., Douglasville, passed away Saturday after an extended illness.
Mr. Stephens, born September 20, 1890 in Cherokee County, Alabama. He was a member of the baptist church and was a retired employee of Nopco. He had resided in Cedartown 32 years before moving to Douglasville.
Survivors include eight daughters, Mrs. Flora Brannon, Powder Springs, Mrs. Lovella Grimes, Cedartown, Mrs Ethel Crumbley, Riverdale, Mrs. Mildred Moody, Cedartown, Mrs. Evelyn Forrister, Douglasville, Mrs Tilda Payne, Cullman, Ala., Mrs. Arzell Blankenship, Powder Springs, Mrs. Zellar Brannon, Hiram; two sons, Elbert Stephens, Cedartown, and Thelbert Stephens of Powder Springs; adopted son, Chester Stephens, Hollywood, Fla.; 24 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday at 3 p.m. in the Pine Bower Baptist Church with the Revs. Roy H. Smith and Earl Carpenter officiating. Internment followed in Pine Bower Cemetery.
Grandsons served as pallbearers.
Gammage Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
