Notes for Robert Signor HAMRICK Sr.
In the "Heritage of Cleburne County, Alabama" is the story about "Wooden Legged Hamrick". Robert left Georgia in 1856 bound for Texas. His horse ran away with him near Mars Hill Primitave Baptist Church in Cleburne, Alabama. They camped at the site of the site of the church cemetery while he recovered. He fell again while he was building a chimney and broke the same leg which had to be amputated. The leg was buried and started the cemetery. It is reported to be buried under a rock marked "Robert's Leg".
