Lud Bacciarini Of Merced
Dies After Heart Attack
Ludwig V. “Lud” Bacciarini, 55, Merced auto parts owner and sportsman well known in Mariposa county, died at a Merced hospital on Monday, following a heart attack on Friday.
Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic church today at 10 a.m. with entombment in Evergreen Mausoleum. He was a native of Contra Costa county and attended schools in Modesto. He was a member of Merced BPOE 1240.
Surviving are his widow Verna, a son Vern and a daughter Mrs. Carreen Schaff, all of Merced; three brothers, Raymond and Michael both of Merced and Edmund of Modesto and one sister, Mrs. Emma Denney of Modesto.

The rosary was recited Friday noon at the Mission Chapel of Ivers and Alcorn in Merced for Verna Speaker Bacciarini, 73, who died Tuesday in a Merced hospital. Entombment will be in the Evergreen Mausoleum.
Mrs. Bacciarini was member of the pioneer Speaker family which settled in the Quartzburg area in 1853, and grew up on the family ranch, which is near Hornitos.
In 1934 she and husband, Lud Bacciarini moved to Merced where they owned and operated Lud's Auto Parts. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1962 and a son, Vern Bacciarini, in 1980.
She was a member of the Merced Garden Club, the Merced Emblem Club and the Merced-Mariposa Cowbelles.
Surviving are a daughter, Careen Schaff of Merced; five sisters, Geneva Shackelford of Hornitos, Elsie Visher of Cathey's Valley, Margaret Nutley of Antioch, Elizabeth Shafford of Lovelock, Nev., and Minnie Blair of Arkansas; and four grandchildren.
