FRED ADCOCK - A service will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel for Fred Adcock, 71, who died Wednesday in Modesto. Burial will be in Hills Ferry Cemetery, Newman.
Mr. Adcock was a native of Arkansas. He was a USDA poultry inspector from 1956 to 1978 and had been a Modesto resident since 1964.
He is survived by his wife, Jewel Adcock of Modesto; a son, Jimmie D. Adcock of South Lake Tahoe; a daughter, Twila R. Stout of Merced; four sisters, including Beulah Maddox and Eula Smith, both of Newman; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

OBITUARY - Jewl Adcock, 73
Humorist
Jewl Lavenia Adcock, a homemaker for 44 years, died Saturday of natural causes in Merced Community Medical Center. She was 73.
She was born June 26, 1917 in Athens, Ala. She lived in Merced off and on for 20 years.
Mrs. Adcock was a humorist who enjoyed telling jokes. She loved to make quilts and her favorite hobby was reading books.
She is survived by her son, Jim Adcock of South Lake Tahoe; her daughter, Twila R. Stout of Merced; three grandchildren, Terri Beckman and Tim Stout, both of Merced and Janine Adcock of South Lake Tahoe and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Unity Church of Merced. Burial will be at Hills Ferry Cemetery District in Newman. The Rev. Joel Hughes of Unity Church of Stockton will officiate.
The family would appreciate contributions to be made to the Merced County Library for the purchase of books.
